Want to get rid of the black plastic rear wing, and I am lookin for a readymade kit or some ideas on how to do this. Must have brackets for the regist.sign plate, but I want to have a more open look of the rear end of the bike.

I'm assuming you are talking about the fender that extends down below the registration plate.

If so, you can clean up the looks without resorting to total elimination or extra kits. On my previous '94 (I haven't done it to my current '94 yet), I removed the light for the plate, moved the plate up until it is just below the tail plastic, and then marked and carefully trimmed away the plastic to that point.

The tail lights for these years have the provision for the plate light to shine through a lens on the bottom. In other parts of the world this lens is already clear, but in the US it is dark. By carfully cutting out this lens and then installing a clear piece of plastic (I used a good clear RTV silicone to glue it in) you get your plate light back.

The benefit of this is you get a clean look, without completely eliminating the mud flap, or needing to install a bracket kit and light. It really does look much cleaner than the kits I've seen.

You can get more information at a couple of the VFR sites:

Good luck.

Thank you for your reply.
Yes, it is the black fender behind the sign.plate that I want to get rid of.
Your suggestion was good and I will test it to see how it works.
Also found a company in France that make kits for this type of bike.

Prices are not so bad....

Re: Modifying the rear end of VFR 750F

That appears to be a complete under tail ... or at least there is one on the bike.

If you are just talking about the little bracket, I would still suggest just cutting down the fender (black platic) until it fits the plate. It looks much more finished than the sharp edges of an exposed plate and still provides some protection from water and dirt being thrown onto your back in the rain. That is from having seen the 2 approaches sitting side by side. Either way, enjoy the more open view.
