best place to mount my Ram-ball mounts for my V1 Detector and GPS on a 95 VFR

I have a couple of long and short arm Ram ball mounts for mounting my Valentine 1 detector and my Garmin Emap GPS.

Any suggestions on where to mount the mounting balls (eyelet style) on a 95 VFR?

Sorry I can't help I wish I knew, but if you do get any joy please let me know as I am thinking of doing the same.

I used the clip on pinch bolts......bought longer bolts at the local hardware that were long enough to entend through the back side of the clip on.....then finished with a washer style nut snugged down to ensure that my pinch bolt stayed tight. Stacked about 5 or 6 washers under each ram mount to move the mounts away from the clip ons.

Aha. There always more than one way to skin a cat. Thanks for the advise.

PS.....washers are stacked along the bolt between the Ram mount and the clip ons.

and also used another washer between the ram mount and the bolt head.

Typo: "Entend" should read "Extend"

Also,....please use a "Hardened" bolt. I found a hardened washer head bolt that matched the original perfectly.

RAM makes an expanding insert with mounting ball that fits into the hollow steering stem on the VFR (at least on my VFR800). It worked great for mounting a GPS, bullet cam, or radar detector.
