'84 VF500F feeding fuel to the fire.....

I just recently received an '84 VF500F, and before I got it, someone had removed the carbs, and disassemble one.

Now, the diaphram has shrank a bit and would be imposible to use in it's current state. It's not ripped or otherwise looking like it would not work. What I am wondering is, is there a way to expand it back to the proper size, by soaking it in fuel, or some sort of solvent, without deteriorating the material itself?

TIA
