VFR 750 RC36 1990-93 *ever ride one?

Has anyone ever riden the RC36 VFR? I really like the white on white model and would really like to get one to tinker with and ride on occasion. But i am curious how they stack up with the other years. Problems ? Maintence? Rough Ride? clutch problems? just the opinions on if its a good buy or not?

Dood I hear ya. That Pearl White '93 VFR hangs with the styling of the newer bikes today, but still keeps that early 90's vintage sportbike feel. Just a beautiful bike with the 8-spoke wheel and the SSSA. If you can afford to grab one that's been taken care of, I'd say go for it. As far as reliability goes... c'mon man it's a Honda! And it's a VFR! And it's got gear-driven cams! And it's a VFR!
Get my point?

Re: VFR 750 RC36 1990-93 *ever ride one?

Good, solid bikes. Look better than the 94-> model IMO. I own a 1990 FL, and have done around 25k on her. Strong motor and gearbox.

Problems are few and far between. The rear hub can corrode over winter, lockingthe caliper stay to the eccentric hub, resulting in a distinct lack of chain adjustment. Not a major job to strip and grease it up.

Reg/rec fail. Modern replacements(alum. heatsink design) are far better.

Centrestand is prone to corrosion, from the inside out. Early sidestands were a poor design, resulting in excess pressure on one part of the stand. 1991-> models were much more substantial.

And, really, that is pretty much it. Mine was used daily, in all weathers, until a lovely old lady drove into the side of it. She decided to join a roundabout by driving straight-through me. Woo.

Lovely noise, nice and nimble whilst feeling surprisingly planted on the road. Unique parts(all fairings, headlamps, stands) are getting harder to locate, but not that bad.

Lovely bikes.
