90-95 VFR750F Carb interchangable?

Hello, I'm new to the site and I need a bit of technical help....

Flashback....I used to own 2 VFR's a 90 and a 93. I added TBR left side lower exit exhaust systems, but didn't have them jetted to the pipes. They both ran great except for the popping associated w/incorrectly jetted carbs..etc. I took the 93 to a local bike tuner(specialized in custom cafe bike building..etc)to have it jetted to the pipe, he had it for a few days and when I picked it up it felt like it lost 1/3 of it's power...I asked him to try jetting it again, and it ended up the same, I decided oh-well (I was very naive w/bikes..as this was my first) I rode the bike for quite some time, and after being stomped by just about everyone I rode with I decided to sell it to a friend an purchase a 94-900RR..

The 90 VFR750F ran like a bat out of hell w/out the jetting so we(I was co-owner)left it alone and rode it that way until I sold it(He defaulted and I had to sell it)

Which brings us to now: The friend who I sold the 93 to still has it and I was able to ride it this past weekend and after my ride I began thinking about swapping a set of stock rebuilt carbs on it to bring it back to stock spec and confirm the jetting was the main cause of the power loss.

My question is: Will most 750 V4 carbs work on a 93 V4? I have 3 options, a set of 94's, aset of 93's and an older set which is believed to fit the 90-on up! Just looking at them they all seem to fit the bill, I was hoping that someone may have part numbers of 1 carb or assembly from a 90-93 year, post 93..etc

thanks so much for your time..

Rob

The 94 - 97 vfr carbs are different than the 90-93 carbs. The newer
carbs have a leaner idle. They require a different airbox, different length cables and idle control cable. Other than that they should work since
the 90-97 engines are identical (except maybe for the oil pump).

I appreciate the post...I was able to get a set of stock 93 non-california carbs off ebay for $65. I'll give em a once over and then install them to see if it changes things

Good deal. I got some california carbs that were gummed up solid, but managed to clean them (denatured alcohol worked best followed by carb cleaner) and put the original no. 40 pilot jets from the original carbs in place of the 38s, then plug the vapor inlets. They worked nicely and I think are now equivalent to the non-california carbs.
