New to me 02 VFR some ? 221deg? vibes and other

Hi all, new to me VFR, 17K on the odo. The guy had a 98 that he put 110K on so he took care of it pretty well. New tires, chain well lubed/adjusted oil changed, Staintune exhaust, KandN filter.

I did some in town riding and some short 100MPH bursts and I noticed the temp climb to 220, I think the fan then came on and it started to go down slowly. Is this normal?

Second, the clutch seemed somewhat grabby/slip when I would be going slow and need to turn and start off. Are there any known issues with the clutch? Anything I need to watch out for?

Third as I would get on the throttle I notice some vibes as the power would build and then it would smooth out. I guess I would say at the point the motor was lugging gaining revs and putting out torque. I guess I am curious if this is common or is a sign of some type of problem? It revs out nice, the V boost is cool and other than that it seems to run good.

last question, the grips are worn and too hard, you guys have any recommendations on replacements?

I'll take a shot at these.

Sitting still my bike always went to 220 and the fan would kick on. Its the side radiators that do it. If your in traffic and not moving the temp will get up there. i have seen it as high as 235 on a super hot day! but the temp is about 180 or so when I am riding and not sitting.

The cluch is not grabby on mine but crusing in first gear at super slow speeds you have to use excellent throttle control . If your running it half clutched it may just be a new bike and you need to find its engage points.

There really aren't any vibrations at less than 7K. When the VTEC pops the additional valves than the Hp is signifcantly increased and you have an jolt that really hits. and then your frame will settle the jerking down around 10.5K. but that is normal and its just wonderful first gen V-TEC smoothness issues.
