| 1983 Interceptor 750 - No Gas from Tank, (stumped) I am lost. I took the petcock off, filled the tank with water and Nothing comes out of either holes which would feed the exit hole. I snaked a wire in each hole about 9" and see nothing. This is not a vaccume/diaphragm system so why do you think nothing would come out. I must be missing something.
Background: I never ran it before but after replacing the carbs she fires up nice with an aux. tank.
The gas in the tank was bad and there was some debris in there. But it seems unlikely that BOTH holes would be clogged.
Any guesses out there? |

| Re: 1983 Interceptor 750 - No Gas from Tank, (stumped) how long has the bike been sitting you should be able to hold the tank up and look thru the gas cap opening aiming it at the sun and see day light if not clogged |

| Re: 1983 Interceptor 750 - No Gas from Tank, (stumped) Thanks for the help, I had trouble logging on until now to give an update. The bike was sitting for 10 years. The Air forced into the holes helped and now there is an exit for the gas. But I need to Line the tank to handle the flaky rust inside. I really appreciate the quick and relevant responses. |

| Re: 1983 Interceptor 750 - No Gas from Tank, (stumped) as far as petcocks go, i dissassembled mine and soaked everything but the rubber in a bucket of carb cleaning solution. after a week, it is completely free of gummed up gas. turns smoother too. |

| Re: 1983 Interceptor 750 - No Gas from Tank, (stumped) sounds youre tank might b gummed up with old petrol risidue or rust, so get some hydochloric acid, work carefully, and put some bout 1 litre into tank and make sure all holes are block for leaks, shake the tank around and get everything loose inside. empty contents into acid resistant dish, then wash with water.... put some diesel in and shake it around, drain again, then put petrol in and clean it out.... now your tank should be fine... |

| Re: 1983 Interceptor 750 - No Gas from Tank, (stumped) Yeah, it was gummed up. I did not know that it could actually seal the tubes though. Thanks much |
