VFR Prospect !!

Hi & how's everyone doin'? I need advice on a VFR. I own a CBR 600 and looking at buying another Honda & this time a VFR (how many times did I say VFR...?) 400cc. I don't know anything about them. I test drove the bike and to me engine feels more powerful than a 400 should & was told by the "mechanic" selling it that it's because of the "V" engine. i'll take it face value.

Now the reason for my need of advice is this. I'm hearing a "whinnin-like" sound remenisent of a Power steering sound in a car when it's short on ATF, know what I mean?....Again, this same "...canic", said that's how all VFR motorcycles sound, it's NORMAL & for some reason.....I AIN'T BUYING IT!!!
Could he be right or should I look out for something else.

Any info , advice or feedback on this matter is highly welcomed. please reply, IF U LIKE, to my mail direct on hjlababidi@googlemail.com. As it makes it faster for me to retrieve. Thanks in Advance & looking forward to hearing from any one soon.

Homms.

Hi. Not sure what year VFR you are looking at (might be different models in other regions). If it has a V4 4-cyl that might be why it seems so peppy for a small size.

The 'whining like' sound could be the gear driven cams. The gears meshing makes a nice pleasant sound almost like a roots type supercharger.

Yeah thats the gear driven cams for sure. My 95 had some work and over sized cams were installed. The bike sounds like its supercharged. Mine is a 750 though and has a great beast like sound coming from its D&D Carbon Fiber Pipe.
