ok ok, maybe it's because a bunch of us bought 919's several years ago for $1500 under MSRP and we feel like makin some changes, what's the big deal?
a streetfightered RC-51 (which means relocating the radiator for it to get even close to lookin good) would still have tighter ergos and a rougher suspension, not the best for all day riding or around town commuting in the city...

I think it's cheaper to go Ryans way then to buy a RC-51 and streetfighter it, plus why would you want to ruin a RC-51 ... inline fours make better street fighters to me anyways ... |

| Re: BigAssBertha's 919 w/ RC-51 Front End Calling that a streetfighter is like bringing a knife to a gun fight. The RR or RC would rip it a new one with no need to take the body work off. If you want a true urban warrior you might even want a motard (so you could go over curb and yard also.
But then he probably has the new JR Riot jacket and wears it with no shirt on, tennis shoes and camo pants

| Re: BigAssBertha's 919 w/ RC-51 Front End G-Force, I hear ya, and there is a lot of that going on...you could get into a brand new 919 for $6500 and then a couple years down the road, drop a few buck on forks and a shock for an upgrade...mucho cheaper than $10-11K and then all the bolt-ons RC-51 owners like so much...
and you're right, ryan reports that those clipons are looooowwww...if it were me, i'd have gone a/ a custom upper triple |

it also does ok at the track...fast enough in the turns, but gives it up on the straights as you would expect ...i'll be runnin a 919 at Barber in May ...among other places like Pocono and VIR

I like my 919, it just a fun all around bike, I know it can't compete with a true sport bike, But like Ratdog said it does well enough on the track to keep me entertained, of course I get killed on the Straights at WSIR, But at Pahrump it's lots of fun and I can keep up with Most of the faster people in the intermediate group... well unless Speed jumps down to the intermediate group lol ... I haven't done front end swap or cams but I've still done a lot of mods to mine, lots of people ask why don't I just get a 600RR, and to be honest 1st reason why not, Money & 2nd I dig the bike and I like being different it's fun being different, I get a lot of comments about my bike....
hope to meet you some time G-Force Junkie, perhaps maybe at SCVBN, if you go & I can get out there when it warmer ... |

| Re: BigAssBertha's 919 w/ RC-51 Front End Wow, not much action in this forum evidently, as I see this is still on the front page.
I did a search for my usual username on google and came up with this, would be nice if that ratdog guy would let me know when my beastly atrocity is posted up elsewhere (tsk tsk )
My bike is what it is because I was hit by a car, and despite having bought the bike brand new I came out well ahead (actually dead even with a free, totalled bike.) Rather than spend 900 per new fork leg and hundreds more on the other parts embedded in the 2004 Caravan I decided to try something different, as a fellow 919 and rc51 rider mentioned once to me that the steering stems seemed to be identical. Not quite true, but pretty damn close, and that RC front end was just about the cheapest repair route I could have followed. I used clipons because I didn't want to spend on custom triple trees, 900rr exhaust because I didn't want to foot the bill for an entire new exhaust, and various parts from other bikes that I found cheap on the grand ol site that is ebay.
Since the time the picture at the beginning of the thread was taken, I wadded it at MAM south of council bluffs, Iowa (turns out the 900rr exhaust's bend before the can slightly reduces ground clearance.) It's now received aftermarket clipons, SATO rearsets, and a mufflerectomy, as well as a big damned dent in the tank.
I have a little over $2000 in the bike. I sure as hell don't feel bad about it, and I love the machine. In fact, I think I'll throw on my oversized Joe Rocket Riot jacket, shorts, and thong sandals, call my girlfriend up and see if she wants to go do some wheelies. I'll have a friend tape it for sheepofblue

Felt the need to straighten all that out. |
