| Bike Turns Over But No Fire! I have an '02 Honda CB919 that was running great until a few weeks ago. Let me explain the situation: I rode the bike for approximately 2 hours to friends house and let the bike sit for about 3 hours. When I left, I let the bike warm up and then I rode to the gas station about 10 miles and filled up (92 octane). After filling up I turned the key on and pushed the start button, the bike turned over but did not fire. I checked the fuses (ok), I opened the gas tank lid thinking it may have been a vapor lock (no change). I had the bike towed to my friends house and let it sit overnight. The bike started and ran fine the next morning. I repeated the process of starting and turning off at least 5 times with no problems, but I didn't let the bike warm up. I trailered the bike back home that day. Two weeks later (yesterday) I went to ride the bike. I started the bike and let it warm up before the ride, after warming up I turned the bike off and tried to start it again just to make sure it would start. Unfortunately it did the same thing, the bike turns over but does not fire. I hear the fuel pump running all the lights work correctly, but I still can't figure out what it could be. Any help would be great. Thanks. |

| Re: Bike Turns Over But No Fire! How many miles are on your bike? Mine did the same thing until I got 1000 miles on it. It happened several times. After I passed 1000 it never happened again. Can't explain it. I thought it was some kind of safety net for overheating. Mine at 46000 on it now. |

| Re: Bike Turns Over But No Fire! My '02 919 has done something very similar to that twice in the past year and a half that I've owned it. Try switching the engine stop switch (red switch on the right handlebar) on and off (back to the run position) then try it.
It took forever for me to figure it out since I normally use the ignition switch. Anyway give the engine stop switch a try next time it does it and let us know if it works. |

If you can fix it by "pulling the circuit breakers", you're only prolonging the real problem.

| Re: Bike Turns Over But No Fire! I had the same thing happen on my 929. It was the CDI box. I bought a new one on ebay for $100. Problem solved. |

| Re: Bike Turns Over But No Fire! Did you work on the bike at all when you were at your friends house before you went to the gas station?
It could be a weak battery. Sometimes a battery with a bad cell will turn the bike over but not fast enough to start it.
Have you tried the choke, I had a friend that tried for a week to start his bike and did not know motorcycles had chokes. He never needed it in the summer but once fall came around the bike would not start with out it. |
