What oil

Sorry if this question has been asked before but I am not sure what oil to use in my CB 1300. I have been trying to make sense of all the technical stuff but still can't make my mind up. I may have narowed it down to either Castrol Magnatec or Mobil One.

What are your thoughts???

Re: What oil

Use the Honda GN4 for the first 1k miles or so, then you can go synthetic.

Hey thanks for the reply. Bike goes in for first 1000km service (free by the way) next week so will stick with what the mechanic sticks in. After that I have pretty much decided to use Catrol Magnatec. I have asked around heaps of people to the point of being a pain in the a$$ and most have said that Magnatec is pretty good stuff.

Boy it dosn't take long for that first 1000km to get used up eh!

My 929 has been lubed from 1st oil change with Castrol R4 - no complaints and zero engine/clutch problems - am running a Barnett clutch. 24000 km on the bike

Re: What oil

It seems that Castrol R4 is very much the same as Castrol Magnatec. The names are changed depending on the market demographic and country that the product is being sold in. So it seems although a different name we have chosen the same oil anyhow. Thanks for reply.

Re: What oil

I hope you didn't use Magnatec in the end, there is a vast difference between Magnatec and R4, one is a car oil for starters.

Cheers, Jeff.

Re: What oil

if it will hold up to the pressure of the injector pumps, then the bikes will not break it down. it is much cheaper than bike oil and has the same properties
