| 919 went belly up Hey all I had the misfortune of laying down my '03 919 and amongst things i bent my forks. I know alot of people like to swap out the stock front ends on these for fireblade front ends..... so I was wondering if anyone out there has or knows someone who can point me in the right direction so i can avoid buying everything brand new oem. Thanks for checking out the thread.

Ebay has a few 919's being parted out...I don't recall seeing forks specifically but it might be worth a look.
Good luck! |

| Re: 919 went belly up I layed my brand new 919 down last week I bought it on Thursday night and layed it down Friday morning on the way to work. Any one ever heard of tires hardening while these 919's sit at the dealer for 2 years with out riding? I was getting on the highway and the back tire slid out from under me. I think it would have been better if i was trying to mess around but i wasn't it was raining and i was being carefull a bit.
Also I was wondering what tires would be best for riding in the pacific northwest? even if that wasnt it... its what im going to blame it on lol at least for my prides sake.
sorry to tread jack... |

| Re: 919 went belly up Were the tyres new? How hot were they when you were riding (i.e how long had you been riding?)
Bladeracer commented on laws over in Oz where you have to renew your tyres after a certain period of time... Maybe this is the reason.
Any Pictures?

1) Has your clocks been touched at all? (I doubt it would)
2) Has the engine cover actually holed? Do you really need to replace it?
3) Has the tank actually holed? Do you really need to replace it?
4) Do you need to buy brand new? I sourced a lot of parts from eBay and sprayed them a custom colour (its only the tank, rear panel and mudguard))
Also, by sanding down the rear panel, adding filler, sanding again, primer-ing it, sanding again, spraying, lacquering and finally cutting the paint, you could make it look as good as new (if thats the colour you want)
5) Mirrors you can get cheap (they don't have to be OEM Honda do they?)
6) Bar ends and grips from the pictures would go again)

The 919 is a "retro" looking bike, thats the reason why they went for them (a lot of people convert them to Renthals which are lower and look a lot better! (and are probably cheaper than OEM)

| Re: 919 went belly up The gauges were fine, the engine cover was cracked and leaking oil, the tank is still sealed i found an oem distributer online who sells new ones for around $400. Yea i want them new im tiered of not having nice **** all my stuff has been done cheap as possible. The rear pannle on that site is even cheaper. Im going to get the intagrated mirriors and a fender eliminator kit so that takes care of that. and yea it needs new bar ends and grips too.
I already told them to do the handle bars engine cover and the foot pegs mostly cause i was pissed so i just wanted to drop it off... I could have fixed the whole bike this payday if i would have dont it all from that site. I still might be able to order the tank.
The renthals are cheaper i thought about it and i will probably end up getting them but i liked the ride sooo much i just wanted it back where it was.
they told me the wanted to swap the swing arm cause there was a small scuff on it lol .... im sure they did damn volchers! |

| Re: 919 went belly up Jay, get your butt over to WT or check ebay.
I just sold a tank for $40 with a minor dent.
It has since been fixed, primed, painted and installed by the new owner.
Stuff like mirrors, we (the 9r community) give away!! Rearsets are easy to find and so are swingarms if you really wanted one to replaced your scuffed unit. Stock bars we give away also.
I'm a Fireblades.org guy from way back but WT has many 919 owner and not enough of them stop by here. |

| Re: 919 went belly up Wow I posted this a long time ago. What had happened was I had gotten a R6 and started hanging out with the sport bike crowd who arent so big on safe driving habits. Well just to fit in I thought I'd pop the front end up but I hit it too hard and the bike hit the tail and went flying down the road. I rebuilt the front end new forks, new gauges, new bars, and new lamps, new used speedo. Found a used tank with minimal damage from an 05 and bought OEM tail section and front fenderto match.
Drivin it after just never felt the same. It just never felt as nimble or trustworthy in turns as it used to. I think the bike didnt trust me anymore So I sold it and just rode the R6. Well after a while I started realizing that partially because the bike could and partially because the crowd that drives Ricers(in my area at least) I was starting to do this that were increasingly more and more "unsafe" so i decided to sell the R6 before I hurt my self.
It was a gorgeous Anniversary Edition and the guy I sold it to Wrecked it in a turn at around 100mph about 3 days after I sold it to him. He wasnt wearing gear and lost most the skin on his back side.
Anyhow now I am looking for another 919 I missed riding so much and I regret not just selling the 6 and keeping the old 919. So anyone know anyfor sale within reasonable driving distance from Mobile, Al let me know and sorry for the long post. |

I was thinking about making an offer on BMILLERs 919 seeing as I have seen it everywhere online including th 599 forum. But I have found 2 2004s just south of me in florida for 3k so thanks anyway. |
