| Help with rear Wheel for Hornet 900 Hi all
Can anybody help with this. I'm want to buy another rear wheel for my Hornet 900 that I can fit for track days. Trouble is there are not many for sale at any one time. I have seen some in the U.S. but freight was really expensive to Australia.
Does anybody know if any other Honda wheels will fit up?
Has anyone done a similar project? I'm sick of wearing out my road rubber so quickly (Dunlop Qualifiers)
I asked my Local Honda dealer but they said the part numbers are different from each model even though some parts are shared, so they couldn't be sure. They did say the cush drive and disc was different but that didn't rule out a complete wheel bolting in relatively easily.
CBR Wheels are readily available from most wreckers so if one would fit it would make finding one easy and inexpensive.
Any help appreciated
Cheers Rod. |

By the way your Hornet (aka 919) looks awesome.
The end cans look tough. What brand / model are they? |

I've heard the stock wheels are steel and therefore heavy.
How much weight savings can I expect by replacing the stock rims with 954 rims?
thanks

Chris,
What you heard is wrong. The 919 has cast aluminum wheels. Even the cheapest modern motorcycle won't have steel wheels. With that understanding, you won't benefit from 954 rims.

| Re: Help with rear Wheel for Hornet 900 beautiful bike, CBRrr. So you have these wheels so you can switch them out for track days? is there any advantage to these wheels over the stock 919? Why not just get another set of 919 wheels (the 5 spoke does look cooler though...)
thanks |

thanks | Nah. . .not a track bike, I have a Duc for that. It's my commuter/passenger bike. I always liked it when I first saw it in 2002. Honda just didn't finish it, thanks to the bean counters. Being a designer by profession, I felt that the OEM exhaust was too bulky, it needed the inverted forks. . .and the 3-spoke wheels. . .I never liked the look. I was planning to mount Marchesini-like PVM wheels like the EMA 919, but they were discontinued. After an extensive research, I found that the 900RR rear wheel bolted right up. That lead to the F3 front wheel swap, and finally the RC51 front end swap. ---Be prepared to spend at the very least $1k for an RC51 front end swap. . .Ebay parts.
My 919 was simply an exercise in finishing a highly potential design. It does get attention where it goes. |

| Re: Help with rear Wheel for Hornet 900 don't suppose you have a parts list (or seperate thread) on the buildup of the RC51 front end?
