| Re: any 919 rider's in the 909 area code? You have a special bike. . .with it you can do many things that a full on sportbike can't and it does those things with comfort. Granted it doesn't have the "racer" look that 99.9% of the sportbikers crave and that's why you see so many fully faired bikes. They are sexy machines. Hypothetically, if a Ferrari was affordable, you'd see more on the road like a sportbike. But likewise, the BMW M5 does many things that a Ferrari can't. ---Enjoy your 2-wheeled M5!! |

| Re: any 919 rider's in the 909 area code? i love my 919. but... i bought it on looks alone, i didnt really research it. i saw one in a parking lot and i fell in love. saved up some tax returns, sold my hand-me-down '83 nighthawk 650 (how my old man went from a '83 650 to a new vtx1800, i'll never know) and bought a brand new, shiny '05 919. wasn't until later i learned her drawbacks. granted, i'm no racer, i'm just a young cruiser, love the upright riding position, but... being whipped by a 600? c'mon. not my fault manufacturers de-tune the motors they put in naked bikes. what i wouldn't give for a full-tuned 919. but since i learned her limitations, i've fantasized about finding an old 900rr motor and trying a motor-swap. can't afford a ducati, plus i don't care for twins, although that s4rs.... that might make me change my mind how i feel about twins. i just like the naked look. but i want the sportbike rush. aside from buying a new full-faired bike and stripping it, which is always an option at least until some bonehead says 'hey, just 'cause they don't like fairings, doesn't mean they don't want to go fast', i'll settle for my 919. i went and looked at the speed triple, found it looks a lot better in pictures than it does in person. i don't think the brits have quite got the finishing skills of the japs. guess i have to wait for the new cbr1000rr, take a second out on the house i haven't bought yet and figure out how to strip it and make it beautiful. i just wanted to find others like me locally who wanted to go for a ride. i live close to pomona valley harley and every sunday the rodes are clogged with friggin' yuppies who don't even have the common decency to wave just 'cause i've got two more cylinders than them. and sportbike riders wont give me the time of day 'cause i'm not wrapped in plastic. wanted to find some fellow streetfighter lovers. someone who, like me, doesn't fit into either crowd. plus, i don't associate with anyone else who has a bike. well, no deuchebags with bikes. lol. |

Just to show you what can be done to a 919 (besides the badass EMA 919 and the Roland Sands 919), here are some photos of mine: http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d1.../919_done1.jpg http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d1.../919_done2.jpg http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d1.../919_done3.jpg http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d1.../919_done4.jpg http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d1.../919_done5.jpg http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d1.../919_done6.jpg http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d1.../919_done7.jpg
Right now the whole front end is off. . .I'm retrofitting an RC51 inverted fork with 1000RR radial calipers conversion.
Btw here's Honda's new big naked, for europe only. I don't really like it much. http://www.honda.co.uk/motorcycles/2008/CB1000R/
And for your enjoyment, visit Wrist Twisters Performance, specifically the 919 threads. |

| Re: any 919 rider's in the 909 area code? i've gotta get some better pics of mine, she's a beaut; no carbon fiber, but i did take off everything i could and get painted red. maybe a bit much. the radiator trims on either side, the grille, the headlight brackets, the trim pieces that cover the throttle bodies, the grab handle... the inside of my intake scoop, all goes well to match the coil spring and plug wires. got a couple other pieces painted the factory black color, too, the hugger, the trim pieces on the side. roland sands did a 919? gotta go find that one. once i detail mine, i'll take some good pics of her. figures only the euro's would get the new naked bike. screw this, i'm movin' to scotland. |
