| 2008 CB1000R Anyone seen the vidoes on youtube? As long overdue as this bike is, I was totally disappointed. I was hoping for basically a 1000cc version of the 919 with better handling, performance. Those lightning bolts on the sides of the radiatior are absolutely hideous. The headlight/fairing leaves alot to be desired. I don't even care if they release this bike in the US. I'm curious as to what all of you think about this bike. |

| Re: 2008 CB1000R It' s a common thing for the new honda models to be hated at first sight nowadays...
Time will prove that this is really a beautifull bike....
Same thing happened with the 08 Fireblade...First everyone hated it...now everybody loves it...
The new cb1000r will be my next bike for sure |

| Re: 2008 CB1000R I'm sure many 919 owners have been waiting patiently for Honda to release a new 1000 naked. I'm certainly one of them.
I like the forks, brakes, 1000 engine and some of the styling. There's a few things I don't like too but, I'll have to wait till I've seen, sat, ridden one before making a final judgement. Apparantly they will be available in Aus in the second half of 08. |

I still don't like the radiator side covers. Rest of it doesn't look to bad.
It will be as always a personal decision on the styling. Some will love it, some will hate it. |

| Re: 2008 CB1000R [quote=Maholli;Makes the 919 look old and out of date.. IMHO[/quote]
It looked old and out date when it first released compared to most other nakeds on the market, ZX1000, SV650, Monster, Etc. It's simple new/old look is the reason I like it.
I'm not saying the new 1000 doesn't have good points, and the more I look at it I'm seeing alot of potential but the headlight assembly and radiator covers would have to go. Adding a slip-on exhaust, fender eliminator, new headlight assembly, maybe wheels and a different paint color would do wonders. I do like that it has a seperate transparent brake reservoir on the front. I never liked the one on the 919 built into the master cyclinder, looks like a left over part from the 80's. And the overall flow of the bike is pretty nice especially the rear section. I would like to see some spec's on the bike. |

| Re: 2008 CB1000R I love it!
Im after an old blade in the next few days, but I saw that cb1000r "supposed to be a replacement hornet" at the NEC bike show in birmingham.
Take a closer look at the single sided rear wheel, and see that the new thunderbolts make sense.
The only problem i can see will be, It will have a detuned fireblade engine, how boring, I think they should have left it full power for the cb1000r!
Probably from 07blade's 170BHP to a measly 110BHP in detuned form.
Also torque for lower revvs wont have changed so their is no need to detune it, you want torque even if your going to use it to commute.
so keep all the high end power please.
suzuki got it right with their gsx1000r and B-king.
B king = naked hayabusa its almost the same as the busa's power output (not down too much).
But both those bikes let you choose how much power you want,
A Mode full power track day or spirted riding
B mode sunday rideout
C mode winter commute |

| Re: 2008 CB1000R I hate the looks of the CB1000R, although I love the single-sided swing arm and fully-adjustable front forks. It just looks trendy and plasticky - like a Honda Civic with a body kit, hood scoop, and 2-foot spoiler. Tacky. I like the 919 because it looks like a motorcycle, not a fashion statement designed by the same people who come up with new Transformers and sneaker designs. Plastic is for dirtbikes and supersports - it just looks tacked-on on a naked bike (and I feel the same way about the Aprilia Tuono or Kawi Z1000.)
This is the naked bike I wish Honda would make (CB1100R concept). But I'll be perfectly happy when I get my 919. |
