Re: Confusion, sorta.........

Its an 02. Its got almost 13k. It is pretty much in mint condition. I have to get a new back tire on it next week so I can get it inspected. Its got stock dunlop k505's, but I plan on putting a bridgestone bt45 on the rear, and at some point upgrading to radials. Any info on that would be cool. I have heard mixed reviews about using radials, but it seems like once people go to them, they dont ever wanna go back.

Re: Confusion, sorta.........

I had an '85 CB750 SC Nighthawk (it was a 700 in the U.S.) for a few years - I sold it last summer. It was a great bike (it's basically the same motor as all the 750 nighthawks from the next 20 years). Anyway, I put a set of Metzelers on it and they were infinitely better than the Bridgestones I took off. My personal opinion (based on changing a lot of tires, when I worked for a couple of years in a bike shop) is that the Metzeler Marathons, Pirelli Sport Demons, or some Michelins or Avons are the best for the odd size / non-pure-sportbike applications. I have had too many Dunlops, Cheng Shins, Kendas, and Bridgestones give me a scare when testriding bikes to put them on my bikes. The high-end sport tires are a different category completely - I haven't used enough high-end sportbike tires to make any judgments. (But I do like the Pirelli Corsa III and Michelin Pilot Powers in sportbike tires, the only ones I have spent any time on). But in the strange sizes (16.5 ", 18", 19", etc.) I would spring for some Metzelers or Pirellis.

Just my opinion... I know tire choices are almost as contentious as oil.
