| Sato slip-on VS. Stock w/bafflectomy (919) Hey guys, I did a bafflectomy to my 2007 919 and it sounds pretty good but am still wondering about the Sato slip-on as if they are any more quiet or louder than my current bafflectomy (last baffle removed in stock pipe) Any information please. Thank again, ~Lee |

| Re: Sato slip-on VS. Stock w/bafflectomy (919) for $45 you're gonna get a piece of junk that will probably take away power and sound like crap. assuming it even fits properly.
go with the Sato, they only make awesome stuff. I have their full system, Ti exhaust hanger and rear sets. all top quality parts worth the price.

| Re: Sato slip-on VS. Stock w/bafflectomy (919) if u got money to spend go with sato
if ur on a budget
go with the generic carbon fiber exhausts
im sure ull get some kind of horse power gain
the stock cans
are made to pass emissions.
even if ur gains are minimal ull still lose a good 30 pounds off the bike |

Originally Posted by Highrevz Ok. But, is it louder than the stock WITH a bafflectomy done? | Louder? It sounds different but I'm not sure if it's louder. The Sato's give a deep rumble at idle and really perks up when you snap the throttle. You will see some weight loss too, something like 14 pound difference between Sato and stock.
The Sato's seem to move the power band up the RPM range a bit. It may feel a bit flatter at low RPM's but more power at higher revs than stock. Also it may run a bit rougher at idle and under light throttle, and occasionally backfire when shifting and letting off the throttle. This is due to the change in the air/fuel ratio. When you change a piece in an exhaust system, your air flow rate changes but the fuel rate does not. This change of ratio will most likely lean out the bike in ways not always desirable. a Power Commander helps modify the fuel rate to "re-balance" this ratio for a norm target of 13 to 1.
Oh, one last thing, Sato is getting out of the slip-on business. So, it will get harder and harder to get them. Before long, you will only be able to get used and those are few and far between. If you're going with Sato, I'd call a reseller (I found Dan Kyle Racing had the best price) very soon. YouTube - Honda 919 Sato Pipes |

| Re: Sato slip-on VS. Stock w/bafflectomy (919) If you don't mind me asking, what is the Dan Kyle Racing website? The one I found looks like it hasn't been updated since 1997 and only has (literally) five things for sale... kyleusa.com I'm looking at buying either the Satos or the Two Brothers 'Stash (where the left can is a fake and you can use it as a trunk, and all the exhaust goes out the right can). Anyone using the Stash? Like it, dislike it? (sorry about the hijack, I'll stop now). |

| Re: Sato slip-on VS. Stock w/bafflectomy (919) You're right. Their web site has changed since I last saw it, and not for the better. I'd just give them a call to ask about price and availability - (866) 667-4925.
Try and find some specs on the Stash system. It seems to me that restricting that bike to 1 pipe could have negative power consequences. Consider that it was designed to be a 4-2-1-2 system. |

| Re: Sato slip-on VS. Stock w/bafflectomy (919) Not a lot out there as far as reviews or info, but it looks like a standard 4 1/2" can with the y-pipe blocked off, they do have a dyno chart on their website... For the price though, I think I'll go with the Sato pipes, especially since every one who's had them (for the most part) really liked them. I really don't want my bike stupid loud (I'll leave that for the cruiser guys who need attention), but I would like to hear it when I twist the go knob. Thanks for the phone number, I'll be giving them a call on payday. Be safe.
By the way, here's the dyno link, and the info link from the twobros website. http://www.twobros.com/Cust_Service/...ualSO_Dyno.pdf Two Brothers Racing :: Search results for 919stash |

Not a problem, any info on any pipe is welcome. I've read somewhere that the single exhaust moves the power higher in the rpm. But I question the looks of "The Stash". I'm thinking about going with the single can C4 can (the price is right and the weight saving must be incredible) but there's just something about having two functional cans thats just plain sexy. |

| Re: Sato slip-on VS. Stock w/bafflectomy (919) I've got stock cans to get rid of if someone wants to buy em. The one pipe is scratched just a little (size of a quarter maybe).
I went with the SATO's (TI) and love them. Not annoying loud but you know they're on there. Nice low rumble at idle. I used to feel a bit of a surge at around 4500 rpm with the stock cans. The SATO's feel really smooth all the way through in my opinion. Need to get a PC still though. |

| Re: Sato slip-on VS. Stock w/bafflectomy (919) I recently sold my 919 and it had Carbon Sato's. It had D&Ds when I bought it and I truly believe that the Satos were louder than the D&D slip-ons.
Great performance, fit/finish and sound quality but WAY TOO LOUD! I couldn't ride without plugs or my ears would ring for an hour after a short ride.
I've been riding my 954 and lovin the super quiet stock cans. Less attention from Johnny Law too. |
