Re: 919 vibration

Normal for the 919 if it occurs at about 75 to 80 mph.

If you buy a front sprocket with one more tooth (17), it will lower the rpms about400 and the buzz won't happen until about 85 to 90 mph.

You loose the ability to power wheelie but not too many people riding a 919 are into that.

http://www.fireblades.org/forums/hon...nthal-bar.htmlGet renthal bars to eliminate the buzz not just move it then get 15/45 gears and you will power wheelie your @$$ off.

Re: 919 vibration

Add a tooth, get some better grips, wear good boots, add some Renthals, and consider some bar ends. But remember you're riding an inline 4 with its sleeves rolled up. Some buzz is expected.

15 tooth will eat back tires like they're jelly doughnuts! But just as much fun.

Re: 919 vibration

I just had handlebars from a cb750 nighthawk installed (2" wider 1.5" higher), they came with the weights already inserted in the bar ends. I also had the original bar end weights retro fitted. The engine feels the same riding around town but it is MUCH smoother at 60 mph and over.

Re: 919 vibration

I just installed a Throttlemeister (heavy) and that seems to have helped quite a bit especially at higher rpm's/speeds.

Re: 919 vibration

I have an '07 919 that I wanted to knock some of the chrome off of a little bit...so I bought Renthal "Street Fighter Meduim" bars that looked great, but were 3 inches longer than stock (1.5"/side).
I thought about cutting them down...but noticed there would not be enuff straight bar to mount lever-perch, switch-gear, and grips.
I thought about using them as is (long) but this would have required cable adjustments from clutch, brake, and throttle cable/lines that I wasn't in the mood to perform. I only found out later that I also would have had to contend with locating pins and some drilling.

So, I had the stock bars stripped and powder coated black. They look great, but I am now getting a buzz that was not there before, especially the left side where at free-standing idle the clutch lever will vibrate and rattle like a beehive.

I'm reasonably sure I have the bar-end weights attached correctly.
I am at a loss trying to figure out what went wrong...and how to correct it. :-/

Re: 919 vibration

Hmmmm.....I don't see how powder coating could possibly cause the vibration. Have you tried loosening and re-tightning the pinch bolts, making sure their even? The clutch rattle at idle is normal. Oh yeah, I live in SD too.
