To make a 919 more of a sport-tourer . . . ?

What would you recommend? I got a good deal on a 919 and I'm loving it. I ordered some GIVI crash bars where I can put some footpegs on there if it looks like it'd help. I also have some GIVI luggage in the works.

I'm looking to do the occasional weekend trip. 500 miles, stay somewhere overnight, come back. I have a flyscreen on the way as well.

Would anyone recommend handlebar risers? Or something to dampen the handlebars vibrations? Or anything else I'm missing? (is there some sort of cruise control I can get for this bike?) Thanks.

It's funny you posted this. I just bought a 919 this weekend and I am having the same thoughts. I've got the fly screen on order too.

I am looking at the Chase Harper Stealth Bags and the Givi Hard Bags (E21 or E41).

I'm also looking for a crash bar but I want to find one painted grey to blend in with the motor and not stand out. I could probably just repaint the black ones.

Maybe some new grips. Any suggestions?

I can highly recommend the Givi luggage setup. I ran my 929 with the 50l topcase and it worked out really well. As a matter of fact, I'm not going to be able to use the trunk on my 1000, so if you'd consider a used box, drop me a line.

Handlebar risers are a personal opinion. If you think you'd be more comfortable riding all day with them, then go for it. I would get a throttle lock first (look for the $24 Vista Cruise and the $139 Throttlemeister) and see if just being able to stretch out a bit helps enough.

The Throttlemeister also has a 'heavy' model that can dampen vibration a bit. Heck, you might even be able to just fill your handlebars with graphite.

As for the body-colored crash bars, you should see if there are any simple frame sliders available. They perform a similar service, and are more likely to be color coded.

Heck yeah I'm interested in a used trunk! As long as it works. Just email me (sfalexi@gmail.com) and let me know the details. Is it monokey or monolock so I know which adapter plate to get (I'd assume monolock with that size trunk) and I'd be MORE than happy to take it off your hands. Can't find a "private message" function so I'll just have to hope you check back on the thread.

I'll definitely check out those cruise controls. That throttle lock was a wonderful thing on my cruiser and I miss that the most. And I'll have to look into filling the bars. I know that I've read filling bars with sand or something like that just to have more material to deaden the vibration, but I'd have to look long and hard before introducing small grains of anything into my bars.

But definitely get back to me on that topbox. I see no reason why NOT to buy used, but working if I can.

FYI, I just installed those GIVI crashbars. They are definitely gray, and not "black". So you might want to look at those. I'll try to post a picture in the next few days.

The givi crash bars look great and "blend-in" with the engine color.

I also found the OEM Hondaline Windscreens for the 919 in the Netherlands. A little pricey though at $212 to your door here in the states.
