919 for tall riders?

Hey dudes i'm looking to get a 919 and i'm just wondering how many tall riders out there are on this bike? I'm 6' 4" and i haven't had a chance to sit on one yet, but i have sat on a 599. It was a bit cramped, not too bad though.

Re: 919 for tall riders?

I'm 6'3" and love my niner, best fitting bike I've found. Cruisers I feel folded in half, sport bikes I feel curled up in a ball, but on my baby it's just right for me.

Re: 919 for tall riders?

I'm 6'3" (and well into my 50's), and the owner of a NEW 919 , I had to make a few changes in the ergo department to make mine more comfy. I installed an aftermarket windshield, Genmar 1" up and 1 3/8" back handlebar risers, plus I fabricated a set of footpegs that are about 1" lower. All of these mods made a sweet bike so much better. The stock setup was just a little too cramped and sporty for me.

Re: 919 for tall riders?

I'm also 6'3" and that's mostly leg. 919 is still nice and comfy for me, I've done as many as 8 hours on her in one day.

Re: 919 for tall riders?

I'm 6' 3", 240lbs and the 919 is a brilliant fit for me. I do need to stiffen the suspension to support my fat ass though. Right now it seems like I bottom the front end pretty easy. Thinking of some heavier oil and springs to get me more push room.

Re: 919 for tall riders?

It all depends on how you like your bike. For me, I want to sit up a bit more, and kick my legs forward a bit more. I blame that on my buddy letting me ride his cruiser though. I am however happy with my 919s, sans the seat.

I am 6"2" with no comfort problems. Changing to lower, more forward bars and Rizoma rearsets made my bike way more comfortable.

Re: 919 for tall riders?

Being tall gives you the option of sitting more upright on the 919. I'm 6'1" and have adequate leg room. Yeah, you can feel tired or cramped after a long ride, but most bikes are like that.

Re: 919 for tall riders?

I'm 6' 2" and will be finding out - I just bought a 919.

It has a set of narrow/lower bars on it, otherwise its stock. I may be putting the OEM bars back on... not sure yet.

I'll post more when I know more!

6' 2" (longish legs), and I find the seating position to be quite comfy.

Re: 919 for tall riders?

Im 6 and I find the position ok to be honest - Ive seen a few people add bar risers to them and also some who have lowered them - all depends how you like it.

Re: 919 for tall riders?

I got the 919 yesterday and put the OEM bars back on - the straight bars were too "lay down" for me.

Today I took the bike out for a short ride. It's very comfortable! The bike handles well and has a lot more power than the older 750 I was riding.

Re: 919 for tall riders?

I am only 5.2 and i can reach the ground with my finders but i feel this bike is a perfect match for my size
My husband is 6.2 i think and he doesn't look good on the bike - i think it is too small for him.

Re: 919 for tall riders?

I am 6' 2" 185 and my knees got cramped up on a 7hr ride in trafic for 300 miles i had to stop 4 times. On the way back i made it in 4hrs stopping twice. The bike felt really good then no cramping.

I think shell permium gets me way better gas millage by the way around 46mpg all stock, and 40mpg on cheapo regular...

Re: 919 for tall riders?

I am 6-3 and I love my 919. The stock bars were fine for me but I have somwhat bad knees so I installed buell xb footpegs for about 1 inch more leg room. The only other comfort mod I needed was some seat work. Everybody is different but you can modify to suit you pretty easily.

There is a wealth of info on 919's at wristtwisters.com in the naked bikes section.

Re: 919 for tall riders?

I am 5.10 , and about 200 lbs. I find the 919 is perfect for me. My inseam is about 31 inches, and I have read the seat height on the 2003 919 is 31.5 inches. Seems about right, as I can put my feet flat on the ground, but just barely. I have a cruiser too, and the 919 seat is MUCH higher.

tell me about it, i have people ride up to me and look at the riding stance and act like they can out run me based on the look of the bike, they change there mind pretty quick. its not the fastest bike, but not many bikes can just leave me in the dust.
