| 599 or 919? I'm possibly looking to purchase a new bike this year or next year for sure. I currently ride an 84' Interceptor 500 and have rode a 98' 600 F3 and a 2001 R6. I defiantly want to stick with Honda and I love the look of a naked/streetfighters. I'm not a speed hog or super aggressive rider, just your average daily cruiser. I do a bunch of two up riding with the wife and average weekend tours. (average 300+ miles)
I'm a fairly small guy, so seat height and weight are important to me. Other than power is there a huge difference between the two? I have not sat on either model, so I haven't been able to compare.
Also, what was the first year for fuel injection on the 919? Did the 599 ever go to fuel injected, or did it always stay carborated.
Thanks in advance! |

| Re: 599 or 919? not sure about the fuel delivery things, but go with the 919... you'll never be bored with the power and you won't crave more either. |

| Re: 599 or 919? All 919's are FI, the biggest difference is from 2004 and up they have adjustable suspension and a few other changes in looks.
I'm pretty sure all 599's are carbed, I have a 919 and the power is great, one or two up |

| Re: 599 or 919? I purchased a 2007 919 and I believe there is no substitute for power. The 919 has it where you need it for day to day commuting and you won't even notice when you have two-up. I am 5'10 with short legs and manuevering is not a problem. The 919 is very light and well balanced.
One concern I see for you is the bars are a bit "vibratey"...so long journeys on the freeway might not be this bike's strong suit. Short (<100mi) trips with two-up are a blast tho... |

(Years and years of soccer) How does the 919 stack up when it comes to seat height and girth around the seat area/tank? |

| Re: 599 or 919? I am also "stocky" (years and years of Beers). I can't sit flat footed with both feet but I can get the balls of both feet down firmly, or one foot flat. I've got a 29-30 inch inseam in Levi's if that helps you gauge.
The bike never feels tippy and is very light for the class. The seat doesn't seem wide to me but I do tend to end up forward near the tank. The tank itself is shaped for comfort and squeezing as you rip thru the gears. Passengers have reported total comfort and good visibility.
You said you found it crated, have you taken delivery?
You will love the whirr of the motor. |
