| my first crash today i laid my honda 919 today, to just start off i'm fine just banged up my knee pretty good.
i was following my friend who i do 98% of my riding with, and i wasn't sure where we were going, and we went down a road and there was this big concrete wall that used to suport a railroad track, i see him stick his hand out and point, and just so happens where he points there is a dead rabbit or something in the road. so i looked down for a second and avoid it and look up and hes turning on a road that i didn't know was there and couldn't see because of the wall. i slammed on my brakes and started to slide and he heard that and started trying to get out of the way. but i slide into his bike and hit the passenger peg which was down, if it hadn't have been i probably would have hit his leg. he wobbled but got control but the impact knock me off balance, and i went down doing about 20mph. dented the tank pretty badly, and scratched up part of the engine cover (not sure of the actaul term just know it covers something in the engine) and bent my handle bars a little. we got it up moved it and looked it over, let set for a bit. then i started it, everythings running fine. rode at least 100 miles after. we are both fine, but now my tank is messed up. this totally sucked, scariest tihing thats ever happend to me. man i hope that doesn't happen again |

| Re: my first crash today First crash without serious injury. Good job!
Too bad about the tank etc., but either you'll get used to the way it looks, or you'll get it repaired. BFD. It's just stuff. |

| Re: my first crash today good to hear you are ok, bikes can be replaced or repaired but its harder to repaire a person and can never replace someone.

| Re: my first crash today i know, if that rabbit hadn't been there then i wouldn't have looked down! but i know its my fault, i can't be too mad about it. as my friend and i said after it happend, your pretty lucky when your in a two bike accident and you can both ride home from it. i'm just glad we are both ok and more importantly the bikes and the bike already had a dent on the other side of the tank from the previous owner so now i have matching dents! |

| Re: my first crash today Nearly al of us come off the bike at some point. Just enjoy the fact your fine and as the others said bikes can always be repaired.
Learn from what happened and move on and enjoy the ride! I did, and haven't looked back since a nice big broken leg and a total write off of a bike |

| Re: my first crash today Your mate is fine, you're fine, yes your bike is a bit messed up but all things considered you came out of it ok.. Your bike can be fixed quite easily, you or your mate being hurt would have been a whole different matter..
You learned a valuable lesson, while not coming off too badly.. |

| Re: my first crash today Glad you ok... two kind of riders those that have crashed and those that still will.. almost lost my life in 2005..life has a little way of saying "slow down".. broke my arm , my leg in two places, dislocated my hip, cracked my ribs mostly on my right side and a few hours later was in ICU both my lungs collapsed while on the operating table.
Basically had to start my life over again.. better a messed up bike than a damaged you. learn from this..... |

| Re: my first crash today i made the same mistake. going about 10mph out of my driveway and since i wore sneakers, i looked down to check that my laces are tucked in very tight so it wont get caught in the peg and when i looked up, the bike was heading towards the sidewalk. I slammed on the brakes and the bike went on it's side.
big rookie mistake. i'm glad it was low speed. NEVER LOOK DOWN! |

Glad you're both OK, you'll get the bikes sorted over time. |

| Re: my first crash today Well, you got that part of the learning curve out of the way.
Old Rodeo saying, "It is not enough to just learn how to ride, you also have to learn how to fall off."
I used dirt bikes a lot to learn how to crash. |
