Problems With Changing Bars

I have an '06 919 that I am trying to put bar risers and dirt bike style fat bars on and think I have found a good combination for height and bar curvature, but I need a throttle cable that is slightly longer. The rest of the original hardware seems to fit and I have already found a clutch cable that is the correct length. Has anyone else changed their bars and found the same issue? And has anyone had any luck finding a longer throttle cable, maybe 5 more inches, that fits the 919?

Re: Problems With Changing Bars

Most of the people who change bars go to lower bars. I don't know of anyone who went with risers. 5 inches seems like a lot. You must have gotten higher bars as well. Post a pic so we can see.

Re: Problems With Changing Bars

I am still finishing putting on the bars now. I grew up on dirtbikes and that type of riding style suits me better so I put quarter inch risers on with a set of bars that are more like a flat track style. I realize that style isn't for everyone, but I will post pics of the bars in a couple of days.

Re: Problems With Changing Bars

5 inches is a lot. have you tried the stock cables? I had 1" back and 1" up risers on my OEM bars before going to Renthal ULs. With the risers I had no problems with stock cables.
