Tire replacement.Question. Loctite? OK guys I'm pulling the front and rear tires off my bike to put new rubber on it. When I go back on with everything should I put a drop of the Blue Loctite on the bolts on reassembly ?? I'm going to torque them to the spec's in the book. Calipers and axle nuts and such. Hey Ive done dirt bikes before. But not a machine that I'm riding fast enough on and asphalt under my ass ..LOL... Ive read the how to's. Anything special I should know before I undertake this thing??? Rocket Science ain't it..... Thanks WD

Re: Tire replacement.Question. Loctite? I have used a few drops of loctite on the front axle clamp bolts. I have not used it on the axle bolts or chain adjusters. I have also used loctite on the front brake caliper mounting bolts. You should pull the calipers when you remove the front wheel. This prevents damage to the pads when you reinstall the front wheel. Hang the calipers by some string rather than let them dangle from the brake lines.

Re: Tire replacement.Question. Loctite? I really don't think Loctite is necessary if fasteners are torqued to spec. I might use it where you have a specific problem, maybe. Even blue or medium strength can mess up aluminum threads sometimes.

Re: Tire replacement.Question. Loctite? chain adjusters on 919 actually have a bad tendency to come loose if you don't watch them, but safety wire is a better way to secure the chain adjusters.

Makes everything more solid. |
