919 - What oil and gas?

Hi. I just picked up an 06 919, and didn't get an owners manual with it. Is there a place I can get a Pdf copy?

What gas does it use? I didn't seen anything on the tank than said only super -so I assume regular is good for it. Is that right?

Also, what kind of oil? Is it just any old 10W-40? I want to change the oil and filter right away because you never know what was done with the bike before you got it. (No service records...) Can you get the filter from WalMart or an auto parts place, or do you have to get it from a honda bike dealer?

Thanks.

PS

I enjoyed riding it home. I'm sure I'll have more questions once I get riding.

Re: 919 - What oil and gas?

10w-40 is recommended for the 919. Yes you can get a Wal-Mart filter, but they will not have a list of what car filters will fit for your bike. It is much easier to get a motorcycle filter. I personally love my K&N oil filter, because it has a hex nut on the end for easy removal.

87 octane fuel is just fine, there are many threads where people argue, but just with what makes you feel better. Pay close attention to how the bike handles while riding.

I have a 07 I got new. I run a Honda filter and Honda Full synthetic oil. I change the oil & filter out once a year . I'm not saying my combo is magic or the best. But it's what I use..... WarDawg

Re: 919 - What oil and gas?

I run HiFloFiltro Oil Filters (Comes in a green box) Product #: HF204.

Do a search on this site regarding the differences in Oils, but I run the standard 10W40 as it says in the user manual. I change mine every 3000 miles (Got into the habit)

Pick up a Haynes Manual next time your out - will help a lot.

Ride Safe (and we need pictures )
