Overheating

So, I just want to make sure I'm covering all of my bases.

About three weeks ago, I took a passenger for a short ride. I noticed that I was running significantly warmer than normal, but not in the danger zone.

With a little time, the overheating happened more often, and to a greater extent.

First thing I did was pull the thermostat. No dice, no change.

I flushed the radiator. I think the previous owner had used 100% antifreeze, so I was glad I flushed it, but still no change.

My fans come on, but not consistently. I can ride for a day, and I'm overheating, my fans will come on like they were supposed to, but the overheating continues. Sometimes they don't come on at all, and the overheating continues. As long as I'm moving forward (15+ mph), I stay out of the danger zone with the heat.

So, yesterday I ordered both the waterpump and the water temp sensor. Supposedly the fan switch is in the temp sensor (according to local dealer). I am comfortable that the temp sensor itself is working as it should, given my gauge is working normally. Is there a different location for the actual fan switch?

Any other ideas what could be causing this? I've sprayed through my radiator to make sure there is no collection of bugs etc between the fins.

Thanks for any advice you can offer

Re: Overheating

Have you tried flushing the whole system through backwards? Also may be worth having it tested for a head gasket failure!
