Tire Question

Does it matter if I interchange brands on my 94 CB1000? Also, I'd like some opinions on good brands to choose. New to street riding. Thanks.

Re: Tire Question

Been a few threads on this.
I have Dunlop qualifiers on the front and Michelin Pilot Power 2ct's on the back.
The power 2ct are not durable( about 3500 miles) but very sticky and heat up quickly. I like playing in canyons and on the track so I want the sticky stuff.

For durability and grip you cant go wrong with Pilot Road 2ct's. I've heard of people getting 15000 miles + on them

Opinions on tires are like ...... well... everyone has one. Use the search function as there is already tons of info on the different tire brands.

Although some people still do it, its probably not a good idea to have different brand/types of tires on your bike. They handle and heat up differently, potentially a dangerous mix... especially for new riders.

to the craziness

Re: Tire Question

I have no concerns about mixed tyre brands personally.

I would go with any of the big-name brand sport-touring tyres, more than enough grip for the road and last longer than sports tyres.

Pirelli Angels are getting good write-ups, as do Dunlop Roadsmarts. Michelin Pilot Road 2's have a lot of fans as well. Avon Storm ST's have a lot of fans, and there's also Continental Road Attacks which some people dismiss, but Ir really liked these tyres.

Any of the above will be OK, personal preference will determine your favourite though.

Re: Tire Question

Thank you for the input. I ended up buying a Metzler ME 880 to match my rear tire which is in great shape. I liked the look so went with that.
