919 windsreen?

hello guys (and gals) I am very new to the Honda street bike scene. I've been riding Harleys for 20 years and riding/racing dirtbikes longer than that.

I'm 40 yrs old and just bought an 07' 919. I'm really digging this bike and wish I had started riding one a long time ago. My question, which may seem dumb to some of you, is this...........will a Givi windscreen really help that much on this bike? I just ordered one today after reading some reviews on them and then found this site. Wish i would have found this site first.

BTW, the Harley is gone and probably won't be getting another one after riding this bike.

Thanks in advance for any info.

Re: 919 windsreen?

I have a Givi windscreen. I can say that after i saw it on my bike i like the factory screen a little more. But I could only see the Givi windscreen to be used when it was really cold or if I was on a long trip. But the bike just looks better without it, in my opinion. It sucks that they cost so much. Hope it works for you though

Re: 919 windsreen?

I agree, not the best looking windscreen. I mounted it on the bike to fit it, now it's at the painter getting matched up. I can see where it will help on trips. That will probably be the only time it's on. Thanks for your input and be safe.

Re: 919 windsreen?

i had a stock screen and it may have been my imagination but I could swear that all it did was channel the wind directly into my helmet. but i did find that ducking behind it allowed me to go from maybe 110 max on the highway to 120. The Givi is much larger so i think you will notice a huge diff but it is ugly as sin and i mean the point of the bike is to be naked right? Why do so many people complain about it not having good wind protection its part of the look

I'm gonna put it on and ride and see. If it's a big diff then I'll put it on for long trips. I agree with the naked part too, they look a hell of alot better stock. Going now for ride......be safe and have a great day.

Re: 919 windsreen?

I just made a deal for an 04 and will be picking it up this week. It has a solid black windscreen which I don't want on it if anyone is interested in making an offer on it or trade for a stock smoke/clear honda screen.
