Re: New Project

My 18 inch wheel and 51 tooth sprocket came in, and wouldn't you know it, as soon as I get it on, my new tires show up.

Re: New Project

Also, having Flexx bars, you can tune them for rebound and compression. Being an older rider, i made them soft, and also got the forks back and mounted.

started on mounting the damper now, should be a good weekend.

Re: New Project

So I learn another hard lesson today with regards to two stokes. I cleaned the carb on the bike and say to myself I'll take it up and down the block real quick just to make sure everything is good. I start the bike with my boot and decide I need no other gear to just go 30 yards. I rev a bit then give a hand full of gas, like I do with all my street bikes. People always say two strokes are real powerful. I ride a 1000, how powerful can this little 250 be? Well, my question was answered, it did a 12 o'clock and threw me right off. As it went straight up I tried to press the rear brake but I couldn't find the tiny little brake lever. I quickly came off the throttle but that things engine brake was not strong enough to bring me back down, so I did ape drag before I let go of the handle bars to see my bike going on is way on one wheel before slamming on its side. I get up run to the bike, pick it up and push it into my back yard with my tail between my legs. Damage to the bike, broken fender from scraping while being at 12 o'clock and the can has a dent from when it slammed on the left side. Damage to me... Smfh...

Re: New Project

That's really bad luck, the bike's easy to mend, you'll take a bit longer, I bet that's sore.

Re: New Project

lol this brings back memories of my first 2 stroke, a kx125. after several years of 4 stroke dirt experience i thought i already had the kx licked. i was wrong of course. a 125 is really either meh or GOOOOOOOOOO. it would squirt right out from under you with little problems.

i can really picture the whole thing from your descriptive story. prob the single most important thing you really gotta practice is letting go of and dismounting the sharp toothed monster. itll take some practice to really recognise that small window where things reach the point of no return and its time to put an escape plan into action. at which point you want to forget all about the bikes well being at put as much distance between you and it as possible. its truly an art. had something similar to this happened at the top of a steep hill hanging on those couple of extra milliseconds easily could have unleashed the bike towards you and thats a serious threat. you can really minimize personal injury by sharpening that reaction to let go n bail. ive done the old try n save it n end up with a hand fulla throttle dirt bike dance many more times than id care to admit. : )

i almost hate to say it buddy but there are a lot more lessons like this one to be learned! if your anything like me, youll learn them all the hard way as you go. hahaha

im happy nothing too awful happened.

Re: New Project

I uploaded the video from my surveillance camera that caught me going down. This was just straight throttle, and Kevin, I hope this lesson opens my eyes to start treating this bike like it's the first time I'm riding so I can pay attention to the pointers people are giving me.

I'll preface this by saying I have never learned how to ride a dirt bike, and would surely do the same thing if I ever tired......But I chuckled a bit when I saw it point to the moon....sorry man, don't take it personally.

It'll all be good for ya soon enough.

Re: New Project

Lets let Sab lick his wounds for a bit...

Here is the only thing that happened for the dirt bike this week, still waiting on a couple parts from the slowest shippers ever... Either way, I have been messing around with making my own graphics kit, because I hated the one I bought earlier and am not using it. I went to www.motocal.com and have been screwing around trying to come u with something I like, this is it so far.
