New Project

Well brought this home recently, and it will be my new project, it is a 2006 CR250. Runs great, but like most dirt bikes, it has been down a bunch, so it is time for a refresh... This is when I brought it home.

Re: New Project

Dam I'm so jealous, I've been looking for the right dirty bike myself. These dirt bike boys are not trying to sell at a reasonable price here in NY. The zx6r fell into my lap so I bought it but my initial plan was to buy the dirt bike and start trail and dirt coarse so I could get my track game up.

Yeah, I have been riding dirt since I was 4, but haven't in a while, so I figured it was time again. They are the best off season training to available, once you get used to pushing the front, then you'll be a lot more comfortable doing it on pavement.

Re: New Project

Well, today, I feel horrible caught some stomach thing, and didn't feel like being in the garage for too long, but I did start at least. Here is what happened today. I will try again tomorrow, plus more parts should start showing anyway.

Yeah, dirt is awesome

as to where I will ride, I have no idea really, there are places I have heard about, but all a pretty good drive, I need to find a place that is kid friendly too, my 5 year old has his PW50 he want to ride too.

Good thing the wife works today, lots more stuff showing up for the bike...

Re: New Project

I had to do it too. It's weird that after you posted this thread, I was doing my regular search for a dirt bike and this came up for the price I was looking for a few days later. I went to see the bike and the guy started it with no problem. It would not stay idling though unless you gave it a little gas. It appeared that the idle jets needs some cleaning so I pulled the trigger and made the purchase. I have no idea of how to kick start a dirt bike (failed and gave up after numerous attempts), yet along how to ride one properly. I cant wait to get on the trails and start exploring this new thrill venture in the dirt

Re: New Project

nice

after someone on here mentioned year-round riding (and being a former snowmobiler myself), I'm seriously considering looking for a DRZ400 (or something similar) to ride back-and-forth to work in the Winter I mean what's a little snow on the road (if we get any) with a dual-sport anyway Salt & Sand would probably be havoc with bearings and aluminum parts though

Congrats on the purchase, I am happy you chose a 2 stroke. Even though 4 strokes are more convenient, the 2's are just more fun.

You're lucky you got a 2 stroke if you are having issues kicking it over, all you really have to do is give a few good kicks, a 4 stroke pn the other hand is a learned technique that can and will bite you if done wrong. My only advice is when kick starting a dirt bike, is wear the proper boots, nothing like the pain of a kick starter slipping off your shoe and getting your shin
