I'd take my chances, if I didn't live in Cleveland aka Dump City.

Let me tell ya, I'm glad I had my Gerber Multi-plier in my fanny pack. It was my first desert ride with a few riding buddies and I got just a bit too close to the Cholla. When I hit it I just kept on going as I was in an area I have never ridden and didn't want to get lost. When I got to the next trail intersection my two buddies were sitting there waiting and asked what took so long. I just put my right hand in the air and yelled..."THIS!" The outside of my right hand had about 5 clusters stuck in it. Of course the two of them laughed the whole time as I plucked them out of my hand.

Re: HOLY CHIT THESE HURT...

Hehe, welcome to the painful world of the "jumping" cholla Dano. You get so much as one spine embedded in your skin and the whole segment breaks away and implants a few more in your hide. Oh, and the spines are barbed, hence the reason they are so hard to remove. Best removal method is to place a couple of sticks next to the skin, move them up against the offending segment, grit your teeth, and phlip that phucka into the air. Been there, done that (a lot).
