Thanks for all the advice and laughs in this thread. Skid plate, radiator guard, seal protectors...all makes sense. I bought the bike used, from a very trustworthy friend who keeps his stuff in tip-top shape. It has less than 10 hrs on it, and has quite a few tasty bits like Ti footpegs, Pro Taper handlebar, White Bros exhaust, and a bunch of red anodized parts: clutch perch, chain adjusters, axle spacers, etc...itz gots bling, yo.
And no, ND, you can't have my guns. |

-Doesen't hurt to overfill the tranny a little either (I don't mean your 'date' either), +350 / +500 ml seems to be the norm...I haven't changed mine yet so don't ask what I prefer
-Check valves often, though I dont think they grow as much as they do on the older models nor do they have seat issues. I think 05 was the magical year for that 'fix' if i recall anyways.
Of all the 'problems' I've seen with this bike - it just comes back to needing to be on top of maintenance. If you take care of it like its a high end precision machine and not "ma dirtbike" you'll be fine.
Now go sell those Ti footpegs and WB exhaust that you don't need and get some hard Al and CF parts that you will need
btw Pete - congrats
