Throttle Issue

This is minor, but I'm not sure what happened.

I did some maintenance and after putting the gas tank and fairings back together it seems like the throttle doesn't go back 100% to where the bike can idle properly. So if I'm in neutral and take my hand off the throttle the bike revs up to about 3500 rpm. I can put my hand on the throttle and manually push it back that extra 1/4" so it idles correctly, but what a pain!

The only thing changed from before is that I added the PCIIIr. So maybe the throttle has always been like this but the issue never existed because it was getting less fuel? Anyway, any ideas? Not sure how to 'adjust' the throttle to prevent this.

Re: Throttle Issue

I'd check and make sure there is nothing pulling on the cable. Make sure there are no pintches....does it increase or decrease when you turn all the way to the left or right?

Re: Throttle Issue

The cable seems fine. I steered the front hard left and hard right and there is plenty of slack and the engine doesn't rev any higher. Is there some type of tension adjustment for the throttle? I'm trying to think back when I took the Upper Cowel off and if I messed with anything.

Re: Throttle Issue

Is the grip rubbing against the throttle housing? You can pull the grip outward to make sure the throttle snaps back to idle.

Re: Throttle Issue

It's nothing to do with the PC. It's something you've done putting it back together. Just check everything again.

Re: Throttle Issue

I figured it out. I replaced the stock Handlebar Weights with aftermarket (colored) ones but they don't have the little 1/4" notch that prevents them from going right up against the handlebar thus causing friction between the throttle and the weight. I think a washer may do the trick.
