Does anyone know if the stock chain will let me run a 43 tooth rear sprocket?

nope it will not. Most people I have talked with have dropped on in the front (to a 15) and added one in the back (to a 41).

Crud. Well, maybe I'll do the 520 conversion sooner than I anticipated. I'm really only looking to go up a couple teeth in the rear.

ah, just do what I did. My chain and sprockets were new....so I just bought the new sprockets. Once something wears out...I will do the 520. But I could not see cutting a new chain off the bike.

I just threw out a pile of unused 530 chains from "new bike" retrofits. I suppose I should have put them up on eBay right?
