| Before and After Pics Ever wonder what happened to that yellow RC51 from Torque? I bought it in January at a Warner Brothers auction and repainted that sucker and added Sato low mounts, PCIIIr, Dussault undertail, flush mount blinkers for front, Corbin seat, dark smoke double bubble windscreen, CRV clutch and brake levers, 15/41 sprockets front and rear, Perelli Dragon tires, pre-load adjusters, carbon fiber vents (now airbrushed with flame), and a few other minor tweaks.
Here are the pics

Why did you buy a bike from their auction and then repainted it? Did you keep the orig fairings, or did you paint it over top?
I just think that no matter how bad the movie was, it would have been cool to have the orig bike as it was to say that you have some genuine movie memorabilia. |

| Re: Before and After Pics A buddy of mine tipped me off that there was a 2002 RC51 for sale with 490 miles on it and so I drove to L.A. to check it out. Total costs including delivery to Las Vegas was $7800 ($7500 for the bike + $300 for delivery).
I made a copy of the original Title which confirms where it came from. I just couldn't deal with the old paint job. The point was to get a kick ass bike without paying full $9500-$10k. Typically I don't like buying 'used' when it comes to motorcycles because I don't want someone else's problems, especially a sport bike. But this was a killer deal so I jumped on it. My buddy works in a custom car/body shop and he originally custom painted my helmet. I was diggin' it so much we started talkin more while having some beers and one thing led to another and now my whole bike is done. It still retains a slight hint of that original base stlye of black/yellow with a red stripe, but the custom art is better.

| Re: Before and After Pics not sure if I like it, I think its just the yellow doesn't hit me as I bet it does in person. the airbrushing looks awesome, that skull on the fairing is sweet. the helmet looks awesome too.
but that movie was one of the worst movie I have ever seen. after I saw it everyone in the theater was talking about how much it sucked while we were walking out, wish I coulda got a refund on that pos. it not only did the motorcycling community a great injustice it aldo did it to the movie industry. the only good part was the wheelie at the begining but I can go buy a stunt video for that.

Anyway, glad you guys dig it. Thanks for the comments.

Anyway, glad you guys dig it. Thanks for the comments. | yeah thats what I thought. my one complaint about the RC51 is the air inlet, I hate how it looks but hey ram air is awesome so I do like it from a technical horsepower stand point.

| Re: Before and After Pics Kinda funny, but there were six RC's ruined for that movie. I stopped by yesterday at Hollywood motors and they had another one. This one I think they said was number 3 and it was a complete mess. Everything you'd expect a movie bike to look like. The paint was rattle can, they barely covered the headlights when they painted it. Stock paint was showing through in some areas. Parts had been fabed out of junk material.....Parts had been canibalized (sp), and the owner was asking for $7995!
Nope, not gonna do that! So creeper, after seeing that bike and how your's looks now. I give you total props because you had to put some elbow grease into that baby! |
