Fork Height.

Looking for what the fork height in the clamps should be. Maybe measured from the top of the clamp to the top of the leg (cap lip too).....???? A buddy has an 02' and thinks someone may have been playing with the fork height and wants to double check.

Any idea?

Thanks.

Re: Fork Height.

The true right or wrong answer is dependent on the sag settings & tire profile of the bike & how it affects the frame geometry combined with any front and/or rear ride height adjustments that may or may not have been made.

The OEM settings just plain suck so it does no good to really gauge off of them.

Typically we raise the rear 6-8mm first & then drop the front 3-7mm if it is still required to get the bike to handle properly, but it is all dependent on what the rider needs & what else has been done to the bike.

What are the rider sag settings now, has the rear been raised & what tires are on the bike?

Re: Fork Height.

Sounds like he is just looking for stock settings. Maybe for a baseline? Stock settings should be in the Owners Manual.

Whay bike?? if its a 929/54, flush is best--lowering the forks is gonna introduce ground clearnce issues--I have NO idea what LDH is talking about

Re: Fork Height.

Thanks for the info Mike. Ya, he was looking for stock as a baseline and then we can go from there. That setup info will help once we get the stock measurement though.

He thinks the previous owner may have been messing with the forks and he's now trying to find where they should be (roughly) as he's struggling some with feel up front. Right now I think the bike runs stock rear shock and link and DK forks (1.0 springs I think) but he's running a 180 rear (208gp I think). Sag is like 32mm front, 28mm rear and say's it just doesn't feel right.

Thanks again for the info and good luck with the RR...

Eric...
