The beast and me..first ride

What can I say besides

To say I am in love would be a severe understatement. And I totally see what people mean when they say the thing is a sleeper

So onward we go after my 113 mile run through south jersey L an definately say this bike will be around for some time. Love the endless supply of power or how if you crack the throttle even on the highway it just keeps on pulling.

Sound (stock) still kick ass. At idle it sounds like the thing has a supercharger under the plastics One of the guys at freehold has the bonzais on his RC and HOLY **** are those things bad ass

Only thing I noticed which I dont know if it was something I was doing b/c I am not used to twins, but it felt like I was in the wrong gear all damn night. I used pretty much 1-4 most of the night b/c anytime I got anywhere near 5 it felt like it was actually bogging down. Guess thats tall gearing (if it is cool.. if not pretend I never said it ) Come to think of it most of the gears felt the same... if you get off the throttle and go to get back on it was like being a gear to high... if that makes any sense.

On a side I broke my promise to myself of free/cheap/expensive and bought myself a pair of sato clipons. Its not to bad of a position but anything has to be better then the stock crap of down and away style clipons

Anyway enough from me I need to wash up and try to get some sleep. If any of this doesnt make sense check back tomorrow. I will proof read it in the am

New bikes rock!!! Sounds like you are having a great time with your new twin. They are definately different. Still trying to get used to the awesome torque.

Congrats! Glad you like it. Did you notice that it is easier to use engine braking on the twin?

Honestly I couldnt even tell you.. So much going on in my head I barely noticed much. Between learning the feel, throttle, clutch, listening to that sound

Once I get in more seat time I am sure there will be alot more things I notice. Tell ya one thing for a bike that most people consider a "pig" I had no problem tossing it around a little. Once you start going it feels as small as any other bike

Congrats, TGZ! I'm really excited for you, as I know that feeling of euphoria that comes standard with any new bike (you know, that feeling that Chain is addicted to ). Have fun!

I rode mine to work today

I know what you mean about the gearing. Play with the throttle from about 3k in each gear. See where the torq really is...

Re: The beast and me..first ride

Heavy-Dee- Count only if... ah **** I cant go there this early

figment- Sweet man I rode in too. So you feel the same thing about the gearing which makes me feel better. I started to figure the bike out a little (almost 200 miles so far) so it can only get better

Bacchus-
Can't believe I didn't think of that!
Why not that was an easy one I thought that after I changed the line above the avatar to Twins Rule

JAMI6989-HAHA clipons on yes bonzais no so soon. I heard them last night though and man oh man those thing are evil sounding Dont know how easy it would be to sneap past the neighbors in the morning when I leave

Its just so easy to pick on him that it goes in every thread

And for those of you who never rode a twin dont do it unless you want to go buy one. The feel, torque and sound are kick ass.

One of my favorite things about the RC is that while we were out last night I saw none. 2 F4i's, 3 600rr's, a kawi or 2, even a busa (non pink color ) But only one RC

Re: The beast and me..first ride

Congrats, sounds like you're really enjoying it!! If you feel like taking a ride on Saturday, ride on up to Pocono Raceway. HG and I will be there for a trackday with Reduc.

I may be up for riding on Sunday, if I get my 'blade back to street trim. My Ducati is apart because one of the screws that holds the seat locking mechanism fell out. Do you think I can find a screw to fit at the hardware store?? Hell no. It's not a 4, it's not a 2, it's probably some damn special Italian screw that I'm going to have to order from the dealer. Ok, I'm done now!

Re: The beast and me..first ride

All this RC talk is pissin' me off, making me want one. Too bad I can't afford another toy.

Anyway, FWIW, I've ridden two RCs. After playing with gearing on my Monster (the first bike I've dabbled in final drive stuff on), I can safely say were I to win the lotto and bring a new '05 Vader-rep RC home, chain and sprockets would be the very first mod. They are hopelessly overgeared from the factory.

Then I'd fit some loud cans.

But that's just me.

You said loud cans

Gearing is definately being done over the winter I can deal with it for now since there is limited riding time left for the season.

But winter time the bike will be stripped down, cleaned and modded
