| VIN Tag Has anyone taken off the VIN tag on their RC? I really think that the VIN sticker takes away from the looks of the bike, but I'm worried that if I take the sticker off it will be discolored underneath.

j/k seriously don't do it | ummmm the VIN is stamped on the steering head. The label is there for lazy people so they don't have to use a flashlight . . . |

| Re: VIN Tag Being a 2002, and having the flat black frame color, I would think it would happen pretty fast. I have seen glue(s), water, and other things change paint color and finish right away.
I just tossed it out, because, unless he plans on polishing, or painting the entire bike's frame it might be an issue... |

Just another thought.
Everyone with a missing RC is going to be giving you the evil eye, watching you, hovering round the bike, following you home or even harrasing you. |

I usually only have it parked anywhere besides home and work (I work at the Sheriff's Department) for maybe 15 minutes at a time.

Originally Posted by showmethebombs I just tossed it out, because, unless he plans on polishing, or painting the entire bike's frame it might be an issue... | I have a picture of an RC with a polished frame, swingarm, wheel's, and engine covers as my background right now and I think I am going to have a very hard time stopping myself from polishing or chroming everything this spring. It's a good thing my lazyness will probably overcome my wishes on the polishing issue though. But the more I think about it the more I remember how easy and addicting polishing was on my old 94' FZR 630.

| Re: VIN Tag Just to ad $0.02...I was stopped a small store, taking a break. A sherrif walks up and asks who owned the red 929 (I was in a group with other 929s and a 954). He said he owned the same bike as mine, the red one. He hated that sticker on the frame. He noticed one of my friends bikes had the sticker relocated near the steering head and told him he could write him a fix it ticket.
Since he hated the sticker also, he asked at the station about relocating it on his own bike and found out modifing (including moving) any part of a sticker or badge that contains the VIN is illegal (at least in Cali here). He didn't write my friend up for it though. Said he would love to do the same to his. |

| Re: VIN Tag OK folks I cannot resist. I would not move my VIN tag nor remove it AND I would be leary of buying one that has been. Why you ask? Refer to the bike theft ring thread. Don't make any easier for people like that to suceed even if for a short while, the bike you save could be yours |
