Is there a hugger for '02 RC51?

Been poking around the 'net but haven't found anything yet. Someone has to make a hugger for '02+ bikes?

You had one, it probably blew off while you were racing the Corolla.

Re: Is there a hugger for '02 RC51?

Its easy and cheap to put a OEM 954 hugger on a 02+ RC. I have one here Ill sell you cheap if yo want it. I think it involves drilling 1 hole in the swing arm.

The Pyramid and Magical Racing huggers were some of the nicer ones I've seen.

Anyone have a link/vendor?

Does drilling a hole in the swing-arm compromise it's strength?

You shouldn't need to drill holes in your swingarm if you buy a quality product.

So the Magical Racing requires no drilling?

Speaking of drilling, are there any no-cut frame sliders available?

The Pyramid didn't require any drilling.

No cut frame sliders? Sure just get a set of front mount radiators and reroute all the plumbing and the 929/954 sliders bolt right up

Greg @ KYA Racing has some nice front mount rad kits that I was thinking of picking up. I believe they're like $800 or so and he also sells the no cut slider mounts which are pretty nice. That's the only way to get no cut sliders on the RC that I've heard of.

Click the pictures not the links. The site needs serious help as a lot seems broken.

For the 01 owners, it makes sense to just mount/weld the wings on since you have to weld the spool mounts anyway. It's easier to get the bike on the stand w/ the wings and as discussed in the below threads, race teams use them for easier access during quick tire changes. For non '01 owners of street RCs, it's just bling.

Greg uses the site primarily for people to get his contact info. If you frequent the RC boards, he's not hard to find and his products are discussed in detail if you search. He's not trying to be the next Dan Kyle, he's just trying to make his products available and support his racing addiction.

Which is fine but spend about 1/2 an hour and make it a bit better As it is I would probably avoid his products not knowing anything about him. My reasoning being that his lack of follow through on his website being an indication of his quality of work

He carries Magical Racing. I don't have the part yet, but really nice guy with decent prices, and it should be in this week.

Well, I posted that on the 20th after paying for it on the 19th. I was told 7-10 days for the order to arrive at my door.

The part STILL is not here.

Here's the correspondance with superbikesupply:

Sent: Monday, August 22, 2005 2:26 PM

Brad,
I’m hoping to get the parts by this weekend. Do you have a tracking number for the
damper mount and the hugger?
Thanks,
Mike

Reply: Tuesday, August 23, 2005 1:04 PM
the hugger is on its way to me. once i get both pieces here i will shoot you a tracking number for both of them.

thanks,

brad

Sent: Tuesday, August 23, 2005 1:08 PM
Brad,
Thanks for the reply. When do you expect the hugger to arrive at your shop?
Mike

Reply: Tuesday, August 23, 2005 1:20 PM
i havent received a tracking number from the yet. most of their products are made like bodywork is in the states. once the order is placed the parts are made. ill shoot them an email to see what the status is on the hugger.

Sent: Friday, August 26, 2005 9:26 AM
Brad,
Any luck?
Thanks,
Mike

Reply: Monday, August 29, 2005 10:40 AM
i should have the hugger by friday. once it comes in ill let ya know and send you a tracking number.

thanks,
brad

Brad,
Still waiting. Credit card was charged on 19 Aug. On the 23rd you said the hugger was en-route to your shop. Magical Racing has been prompt in responding to my emails in the past. Please let me know if I need to contact them in order to figure out what the delay is. Unfortunately I went ahead and installed a new undertail so the bike is parked until the hugger arrives.
Mike

i received an email from them yesterday. it is on its way to me.

last week was a japanese holiday. everyone was out of work. i tried to contact them several times last week and never received a response. now i know why.

if you would like to contact them you are more than welcome to. my contact is simon.

im sorry it has taken longer than expected. if i had known they were going to be out of work for a week i would have said something to you.

i understand where you are coming from. i would be upset as well. if you have any other questions please let me know.

brad

Sent: Thursday, September 08, 2005 9:16 AM
Thanks for the quick info. I understand that things don’t always go as planned, I just like to stay informed. Did they give you an estimated arrival date for your shop? I have some big plans next week and would really like to have them by Tues if at all possible.
Mike

postal service from japan takes 4 days to me. i should be seeing the order on saturday. once it comes in i will contact you to give you an arrival date to you.

thanks,
brad

It's now Weds the 14th of September. No parts and I am PISSED. Finally got hold of superbikesupply and they say the part still hasn't arrived. WTF?! Why did he keep telling me it's on the way to him multiple times when it hadn't even shipped from Japan yet? The Japanese vacation shouldn't have been a factor as the part was ordered two weeks before!

I even emailed Magical Racing, but they've been vague about when they shipped the part.

I'm on the edge of cancelling the order and finding another option.
