Maintenance Questions

I did the 600 mile oil change today and found a small plastic shaving in the oil filter. It's a broken ring about the diameter of a dime, 1mm wide, and 1/2mm thick. It doesn't look like a part or seal that came loose, just a shaving. I don't think it's a problem, and that's why we do the early service, but should I get it checked out? I'll try to post a pic later.

Also, will Simple Green damage the O-rings on the chain? I want to clean, adjust, and lubricate it today.

Thanks!

Re: Maintenance Questions

Simple Green won't hurt your chain or O-rings, but neither will WD-40.
As for the plastic bit in the filter, I'm not sure what that could be, unless your bike ingested something through the air box. Are you sure it's plastic?

Re: Maintenance Questions

Plastic, or some kind of gunk that hardened like glue from a seal. It could have been in the original filter for all I know. At least the filter did it's job and kept it from circulating.
