I've wanted one since they were new. You should be able to score a 2005 in black $10k or under. It's not the newest technology, but it's still an UNBELIEVABLE bike for the price. The quality/fit and finish is unreal.
And, I bought it over the Aprillia b/c IT'S A HONDA!!!!!!!
Good review for those of you thinking about putting one on the street. http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/Articl...ID=1131&Page=1 |

Plus the RC has a bajillion aftermarket parts available. Plus it is Honda reliable. Read the twin shootout between the Duc, Aprillia and RC. Everyone has preferences but all agree that if you take the RC spend the money saved to mod it is the best machine I like mine. |

| Re: RC-51 Some solid points you all have. Parts would be a PITA plus overpriced. And yes if you spend the extra 5-6k you save over the Italian bike you could mod the crap out of an RC. Not enough twins in my area. Nothing like riding with someone on a twin, the sound is simply amazing, raw. I am biased as to how the Aprillia looks over the Honda, you have to admit that they are beautiful but for that price tag they damn well better be! |

It is definitely difficult to beat the RC, especially for the money. I plan on keeping mine. |

For long rides ear plugs are a must, especially if you have a well vented helmet. Quote: |

I am considering a two tone theme, CF fender/tank/rear undertray with Blue upper/lower/tail One issue is I need a place to put the camera so if I go race tail I had considered painting eyes and Bighorns on the upper but track orgs want numbers so that would cover the eyes
EDIT: and I don't think they will let my passenger stay either

| Re: RC-51 Loud pipes fatigue you? That's a new one. I don't think I'll ever go the earplug route. I just love the twin thing too much and just get some Sato low mounts instead of shoving stuff in my ears. Same power, slightly less sound. |

I wear earplugs and a noise-reducing headset when crossing the ocean in my aircraft, which is not as noise-insulated as an airliner. We used to have to constantly monitor HF radios too, which generate a lot of static. If I only wear the headset, the noise from the air rushing over the plane and the static from the radios causes a lot of fatigue over a couple of hours.
It's the same on the bike, but to a lesser extreme. Try taking an hour to two hour ride one day without earplugs and the next day try using them. Between the pipes and the wind noise, you should notice a difference in how you feel. Not only that, in the long run if you don't use them you WILL be causing damage to your hearing. |

| Re: RC-51 Yep. Earplugs make a HUGE difference in fatigue level on long rides. For quick rides around town I don't bother (stock exhaust anyway), but the wind noise on long trips used to get to me until I started wearing them. |

| Re: RC-51 It doesn't minimize that. Try it. It just cuts out the "noise", you can still hear things like that just fine. If you keep riding WITHOUT earplugs, your hearing will be damaged and you will, then, minimize the likelihood of hearing those things. |

| Re: RC-51 In my experience, earplugs reduce the bad noise (white noise) and lets me hear the critical ones more clearly ... because they aren't lost in the white noise. I can also hear people when I am done with the ride, which I have trouble with after a long ride without. Definitely saving my hearing. |

You'd think that you would hear less, but it's actually the opposite. I cannot stand riding without earplugs anymore, I can't hear dinkus except for the wind.
Honestly, you'll be able to hear your bike even better when the wind noise is gone. |
