| Carbon Fiber vs. Painted Now that I have an undertail, I guess I'm forced to buy a hugger to protect the painted finish.
I've decided on the Magical Racing one for a few reasons:
1) It doesn't appear to be HUGE and draw a lot of attention to the hugger itself.
2) Reviews from here seem to support it's quality.
3) No swingarm modification required.
My question is this: Is the carbon fiber piece worth the extra $80 or so? If they were the same price, I'd probably go with the CF over the gloss black. |

| Re: Carbon Fiber vs. Painted I don't see how a CF hugger would have any advantage over painted plastic other than its bling factor. |

I thought the CF would be a little more subdued and actually be a little less bling. |

| Re: Carbon Fiber vs. Painted I guess if it were my bike I'd take a look at other pieces on there and see what matched best. Do you have any other CF bits on the bike? |

LOL. That's how I get many of the parts for my VTX. My dad buys them for his and then decides to do something else.
I got the Dussault undertail. It isn't installed yet, but it should look sweet once it's done. So far I recommend it Sheep.
I'm going to order the CF, but am waiting for a call-back first. I'm getting conflicting reports on whether the Magical Racing Hugger will require drilling into the swing-arm. Something I really don't want to do.

| Re: Carbon Fiber vs. Painted FWIW, I bought a hugger for my 929 to protect the undertail I installed. Worked great in protecting the forward half of the undertail...the rear half still got pitted.

| Re: Carbon Fiber vs. Painted Your undertail will still get pitted towards the back with a hugger. I have the gray Dassault and it's black underneath the paint so it gets ugly quick. I'm actually going to be swapping my c/f eurobikes hugger for the MR one soon so let me know how it goes and if you have any problems. I've only heard good things about them and haven't heard of many, if any, huggers for the RC that require drilling. Once you get your Ohlins shock installed, the hugger will also keep the grime and crap off another vital piece of expensive equipment so don't just think about your undertail. |
