| this chick needs help! i just bought my first rc51 and let me start off by saying omfg-i am in love and my bf is pissed. anyway my prob is that i am only 5'3 and i have 2 toes touching the ground . how can i lower this beast. i figure 2 inches would be good. oh and how can i keep my ass from baking in stop and go traffic. just seems like there is too much heat coming from the bike. has anyone else had this prob. thanks for any advice you can give. |

| Re: this chick needs help! I would not lower it, this will affect handling in bad ways (there are other short folks on the site that ride stock height bikes). but I think no on heat, everyone recommends the fins but this will not help at low speed. They just run hotter That said I like mine a lot also.
Oh and what year is yours? And welcome Start saving for Grattan and join the RC army |

| Re: this chick needs help! I'm only about an inch to an inch and a half taller than you. I just scoot my butt off the seat when I stop so I get my left foot planted on the ground. Other than that, I'm on my toes, too. I've been riding so long it's not an issue. I never wanted to lower any of my bikes, as I didn't want to compromise handling and ground clearance. Welcome! |

| Re: this chick needs help! and
Couple of similar discussions at a local forum.....mainly aimed at new riders on 250cc bikes but there are a number of other tips (remolding the seat, etc) to help you get your feet on the ground. There are a couple of girls on huge bikes that do an amazing job with only tippy toe contact with the ground, completely blows me away everything I see their mastery of their bikes. So it can definately be done. http://www.netrider.net.au/forums/viewtopic.php?t=4344 http://www.netrider.net.au/forums/viewtopic.php?t=8717
And an .org thread Have you ever feared your bike? |

| Re: this chick needs help! I know something about riding sportbikes with SLS (short leg syndrome) . The Hondagals tower over me!
Lowering your bike will compromise the degree to which you can safely lean, and thus maybe your safety as well.
1 foot flat on the ground is better than two tenuous tiptoes. Hang off enough so that the bike remains upright, that's a heavy machine if it starts to go over. ( This will allow cooling for half of your butt, too!) You'll have to maintain a strategy about which foot you put down, staying in gear, being careful to not step in holes, etc.
The good news is that by doing that you get to ride a capable, expert bike rather than a cruiser.
Welcome! |

Just a thought.

Just a thought. | +1. A very good thought that is. I think one should aim to use all the other tools (thick soles, thinner saddle, practised technique keeping it upright...) before actually lowering the bike. The other options are kind of "free" eg. they do not have any ill effects on the geometry/handling/ground clearance of your bike, whereas lowering will. |

| Re: this chick needs help! thanks guys...i will just buy some platforms and call it a day. i was interested in lowering this bike only because my daughter likes to ride and i felt unsafe on tiptoes with her. but hey i can touch the ground so i guess that is all that matters. hahah besides i have to get a seat before she can ride cause right now all i have is a solo seat. btw: thanks everyone!!! |

Z... | Yep the Lady Star GTX is the one ( middle of this page half way down). It has adjustable calf area as well as the raised sole.
Was chatting to someone last night, who'd ordered the same boot. If you want to chat to her once she gets them she is the owner of this womens riding forum. Tell her I sent ya jdshalimar. |
