what gas do you use?

with the gas shortage that we are having in this area....i am having to put 87 in my rc51. will this harm the bike? i dont want to damage anything.

87 should be fine. That's what the manual recommends. Same with most all Honda's:

My '02 manual specifies:
"92 (or higher)"

"Your engine is designed to use any gasoline that has a pump octane of 92 or highter. Gasoline pumps at service stations normally display the pump octane number"

I usually run Chevron by choice followed by Exxon then Shell and always premium. The RR gets the same and the Ascot gets regular.

I believe the RC51's spec premium. But as long as your not on it hard enough to make it ping it will be fine.

that sucks....will adding octane booster help...im not sure when this area will get anything besides 87.

that the prob...every station here is out of gas....cant get anything but 87. and i am lucky to get that.

87 should be fine. I ran it in my RC for 5K miles or so, and it didnt hiccup once. Put the 87 in and if it starts pinging, add some ctane booster, but only enough for 4 gallons.
