Stainless Braided Brake Lines?

alright, going to get some ss braided lines for my rc but was told to only do the front. the guys at honda said putting them on the rear would make it like a lightswitch and i would not be happy. any of you tried this or have any info on weather to or not put them on the rear?
Thanks

Re: Stainless Braided Brake Lines?

I've got them front and rear. I left a few air bubbles in the rear line so it wouldn't be so touchy, which defeats the purpose of having it, so I guess it's really only there for looks.

Re: Stainless Braided Brake Lines?

Agreed, I wouldn't do a stainless on the rear. My SuperHawk has the stock lines and it's already like a lightswitch. My RC in comparison is defenitly a sponge but it doesn't lock up the second you touch it, only when the rears shot and thats usually on my last ~100 miles on the tire.

It does look nicer than the stock fugly lines though, gotta say that at least.

Re: Stainless Braided Brake Lines?

I have them front and rear without bubbles. Seems fine to me. But thena gain I don't use the rear all that much. Pretty much the only time I use it is coming up to a stop or while stopped.

Re: Stainless Braided Brake Lines?

Agree with all the above. the steel lines don't do much for the back. under hard braking (track conditions) Code says there is an average of 10 pounds of pressure on the rear tire, not enough to help you slow down. more likely to get the bike squirmy unless you are really good.

switching to a good fluid will make a world of diffference. On my R6 I had massive fade problems running fluid from autozone after putting on braided lines. Switched to race fluid (mail order) and things were much better, though on some tracks I would have loss of braking power near the end of the day. turns out the fluid was burning up. a quick bleed would get them back.

since them I switched to ATE Super Blue Racing Brake Fluid and the brakes are insane! After seating in a set of new pads I lofted the rear of the R6 at about 150 at the end of the back stretch of FUSA . Hardly any brake loss through the day.

all this was done running DP HH+ pads. Next season I'm switching to Performance Friction Race pads, I heard they sell a set that is much more linear than the HH+ pads

hope that helps.

Re: Stainless Braided Brake Lines?

I have Galfer S/S lines on both front and rear of my 954 (no air bubbles). The feel is really good, and neither the front OR rear is like a light switch.
