If I decide to sell it... (2004 RC-51)

For those who haven't read my other post, please do so before you go any further. http://www.fireblades.org/forums/rc5...c-updated.html

If I sell the bike, I want the buyer to have full disclosure. Honda is going to fix it and the shop that I have in mind to do the work will put it back together better than new, but my bitterness over the whole issue may affect my enjoyment of the machine. I may just be better off finding a new ride for next summer. My problem is that I haven't found a bike that I'd rather own.

I can have the frame swapped out, or the next owner can get it done where he/she choses. The warranty is still good through July 06 and the latest info I have is that the frame swap shouldn't affect the title.

Here goes:

2004 RC-51, Nicky Hayden Edition

2,100 Miles, purchased NEW July '05

-Arata Titanium Low Mount Pipes (stock included)
-USB Power Commander
-Scotts Steering Damper
-Fabbri Double Bubble Winscreen (stock included)
-Dussault Undertail W/LEDS
-Corbin Seat (stock included)
-Magical Racing Carbon Fiber Hugger
-Pit Bull Rear Stand
-Red, Black and White Honda Jacket (CBR patches need to be swapped for RC patches)
-3M Clear Tape Tank Protectors on the sides of the tank
-Center Tank Protector (carbon-fiber look)
-Swing Arm Spools
-Red Pin-Stripes on Wheels

Please don't ask for the parts, I need them in case the bike doesn't sell or I decide to keep it. If you want the bike without the parts, let me know and we can talk about a reduced price.

KBB estimates $8,500 for a stock bike with 10,600 miles. Brand new stock bikes are going for $8,999 on cycletrader.

What would be a fair price for bike itself, or the whole package?

But, then again, if I trusted the people doing the frame swap, I wouldn't sell it. Also, since Honda wants the frame for "analysis", I would sell it back to them at a substantial price since they're the ones causing the bitterness.

Don't take it out on the bike. It's not her fault. She still loves you.

LOL. What I need to do is walk away from the whole situation for a day or two and clear my head.

Part of me says sell it and be done.

Then again the other part says get it fixed, keep it, and save for an R6 track weapon in '07 when the New Jersey track opens.

I don't know that selling the frame back to Honda is an option. I think they get it in a one-for-one swap. I'll have to look into it.

If you'll excuse me, I have to go down into the garage and hug my RC now.

Re: If I decide to sell it... (2004 RC-51)

The frame has been replaced and my dealer did a great job.

Other than that, Honda basically told me to shove it today. I will take a few days to cool off and decide if I might enjoy riding the bike this summer or if I'll be pissed every time I go out to the garage and see it sitting there. It may just be time to try something new.

In the meantime, does anyone know of someone serious about finding an RC? She has 2,100 miles and the warranty is good until mid-summer. Besides the new frame, with documentation from Honda, she is in perfect condition.
