| want opinions on this RC51 so I'm starting to look for bikes now. I'd like something in the $5-6000 but I'm willing to pay more. So I was looking through the wantad and found a 2002 RC51. says its in good shape. 12k miles, new battery, new plugs, I think air filter, PC3 and Sato exhaust. $7500
Is that a decent price? Seems like a pretty fair starting point to me.
edit: thanks for the move, totally forgot we have a forum for RCs. that was quick as hell (probably cause of the title)

I would of course go take a look at it before making any kind of decision. I think it said its never been down and its in good shape. I left the book at work but I'll get it tomorrow. There was also a 2004 RC for $8000, I think it had around 3-4000 miles and pretty much nothing done to it. Even the 929s were all priced around $6500. maybe stuff around here is a little higher. especially now because riding season is getting very close.

| Re: want opinions on this RC51 would say $7k tops for the 2002 if it's in pristine shape...
and $8k for the 2004 is a pretty good deal if it's in top shape. nada says $8800

| Re: want opinions on this RC51 yes the 04 is a Nicky. its really just his fake signature anyway.
but the lure of the 02 is that it has the Satos which I want anyway. take them away and I bet he'd be asking more like 6500-7000. I'll probably give him a call tomorrow and maybe go see it Friday.

| Re: want opinions on this RC51 Check the "completed listings" on Ebay to establish the market for what similar bikes have been selling for. It will at least give you a partial reference point.
I bought mine on Ebay last December. It is also an '02, that had 14,000 miles on it, with Sato Banzais, PCIII with Kyle map, 15/41 conversion with new 520 chain, flapper mod, PAIR removal, etc., very clean - one (very) small dent in the tank. I got it for $6,200.00, which I thought was a pretty good deal.
The previous owner was a college student that actually did a research paper on "Achieving Optimal Horsepower and Torque", with this bike as the test subject. It had a complete series of dyno reports showing the effects of the exhaust system and PCIII, with great results. I got the original report with the bike.
- Not sure what his grade was on the research paper, but so far I love the bike! |

So I guess $7500 seems like a decent starting point for any negotiations.

| Re: want opinions on this RC51 yeah wrecker I remember seeing that one and liked it but I wasn't ready to buy yet. I also figure any one on ebay I can pretty much add like $400 for shipping.
So here's the full info on this one as the ad says it. "2002 RC51 2nd owner approx 12k miles, Sato exhaust, new battery, good tires, recent oil change, $7500" and the town its in and cell phone number.
I called and he took my name and number and he's gonna give me a call if he gets some free time this weekend in the evenings when I'm free.

| Re: want opinions on this RC51 goodluck I'll be envious when you get a nice rc51, they really make it hard for me to keep the 954 like i know i should. I thought socal was high in prices due to the dealers charging a fortune and the constant year round riding season and the military guys that will pretty much buy anything at any price. But it sounds like the northeast isnt all that cheap even in the off season, i hope you find a nice deal on a clean bike closeby your area. |

| Re: want opinions on this RC51 yeah I'm finding out the NE isn't very cheap right now, especially for RCs. Maybe cause riding season is coming up pretty soon. I'm definetly not ruling out another 929 and if a killer deal on a 954 comes along I'd jump on that too. There is a 929 listed in there for $4900. Says 01, red/white/black so I'm not sure its an Erion or not but also says there's cosmetic damage. Might call him this weekend.

$3300.... He's getting a divorce and needs cash. Someone over there just bought two Baxley LA Chocks (the big ones) for $125 each. |
