High Temp at High Speed Question

Last weekend I rode the RC51 for the first time at Grattan Raceway. It was about 74 degrees outside with cool air. Pulling the normal 10 - 15 lap sessions in, and I noticed the temp on the RC was hitting 220 at full speed with lap 7 or more, and the fan kicks on.

I changed the coolant to distilled water a few days before Grattan. I check the system twice before traveling to make sure it was full and to look for any air pockets. Looked ok minus the fact a few small air bubbles from the radiator came up when I checked it the second time.

Is this normal for the RC? I'd hate to see what it would run like on a 95 degree day.

Paul

Re: High Temp at High Speed Question

I would guess air bubble. I saw a good writeup on burping the RC. I don't remember it all, but part of it involved leaning it side to side to get the air bubbles out.

Re: High Temp at High Speed Question

It doesn't sound 100% to be. I would say airbubble as well. Either that or a kinked or crushed hose.

Why would or should the fan want to kick in at 100 plus MPH???? You should definitely be getting enough air flowing.
