RC51 vs 929 (Track Riding)

My impressions of the new RC vs "Ol' Faithful" (the 929) at Grattan Raceway.

- Braking and downshifting is much more consistent and smooth from high speeds.

- For the need of lack of shifting; it forces you to concentrate on where you are going next on the course. I found out I can ride most of Grattan's backside fast in one gear, not two.

- The V-Twin power shines here! It might be slow in a straight line, but damn, when you put the pedal to the metal, it goes in the corners! It caught me off guard twice coming out of the bowl going into the fast right hander, thinking the RPMs are to low, and there won't be power, but you take of like a rocket!

- The hydraulic clutch rocks. Just another cookie in the jar.

Generally, my impression of the RC was built to be a consistent/stable track weapon. Not the lightest most powerful horse in the stable, but fast in its own way. It's got manners at high speeds. Makes you feel more in control, begging you to twist that throttle a little more.

I've only had about 4 hours of track time since my last time at Grattan with the 929. With my first time on the RC ever, and my second time at Grattan, I beat my old 929 lap time by 7 seconds following the same lines and putting in the same amount of effort!!! Is it the RC or rider? We will never know.

Very similar to my impressions of the RC vs my 954. Now I'm looking forward to upcoming trackdays with the new slipper clutch installed.
