Charcoal cannister???

Im trying to figure out how to remove the charcoal cannister from my 2003 RC51, its a large black cannister infront of the oil filter. I think that California bikes came with it. Any help would be nice. Thanks

Re: Charcoal cannister???

I've never done an RC51 so I cannot give youe step by step details...but in general, when removing a canister, take a look at the lines going to them and you canfigure out what you need to do with the. One line, usualy a skinny one, is a vaccume line that need to be capped. It is usualy pulling vaccume off the throttle bodies or carbs. The other lines are usualy the vent lines to the tank and these need to be kept open to allow the tank to vent. Often you can re-route this line next to the other dump lines that often dump somewhere near the bottom of the fairings. Overall, the important things to remember is to not introduce vaccume leaks, and not to seal off the tank vent.
